Michael's pov:
I don't think I'd ever been this distracted at work before, which isn't normal because i never let myself get distracted and it was not because of students or because of my exams creeping closer every day but because of him. I caught myself smiling at absolutely nothing, replaying little moments in my head instead of focusing on the student sat opposite me.
"Sir?"
"Hm?" I blinked, looking back up.
"My wrist still hurts."
"Oh—right, sorry." I chuckled awkwardly, taking hold of their arm a little more carefully.
"Can you move it like this?" They copied me.
"No pain?"
"A little."
"I'll grab you an ice pack, then we'll see if it eases up, alright?" They nodded happily, by the time they'd left, I rubbed my face.
I was losing focus, what the fuck was even wrong with me? A knock sounded against my office door.
"Come in." It opened to reveal Aiden.
"Morning, nurse."
"Morning." I smiled politely, he leaned against the doorframe, folding his arms.
"So..." I already knew where this was going.
"So?" I copied.
"You two sorted your little lovers' quarrel out?" I nearly choked on my own drink at the reminder.
"It wasn't a lovers' quarrel."
"Mhm."
"It wasn't." He nodded dramatically.
"Sure."
"You know, Noah was miserable." I looked over at him.
"Was he?"
"Oh, absolutely." Aiden grinned.
"Thought someone had nicked his favourite calculator." I laughed despite myself.
"He'd hate you for saying that."
"I know."
"He likes you." I looked down at my desk.
"I know."
"And?"
"And what?"
"What are you going to do about it?" I smiled faintly.
"I'm thinking." Aiden pointed at me.
"Dangerous." The rest of the day passed quicker than I expected, before I knew it, the final bell echoed through the corridors, students rushed out, teachers sighed in relief and the school slowly became quieter, I packed my bag before making my way outside and there he was, waiting, leaning against his car, just like always.
"You ready?" he asked.
"Mhm." I smiled, climbing into the passenger seat, we drove in silence for a while, not uncomfortable, just peaceful, until i decided to open my mouth.
"This isn't the way home." I looked out the window.
"I know."
"Where are we going?"
