Michael's pov:
That kiss felt, different, not like the first one, not rushed, not accidental, not something you could just brush off like it didn't mean anything, it was slow, intentional and the way he held my face, like I'd disappear if he didn't, I pulled away first this time, just slightly, my lips still brushing against his, we stayed close way too close that i could almost just fall asleep again, breathing the same air.

"You did that on purpose." he muttered, his voice low.

"Maybe." i smiled a little, his hand slid from my jaw to the back of my neck, pulling me in again before I could say anything else, right, so much for taking it slow.

"Now we actually have to get up." he said against my lips.

"No we don't." I mumbled, trying to pull him back down.

"Yes, we do."

"Five more minutes."

"You said that twenty minutes ago."

"Okay but this time I mean it." He huffed out a quiet laugh, pressing one last kiss to my forehead before pulling away completely, I groaned.

"You're so annoying."

"And yet you're still here." he glanced back at me as he stood up, stretching slightly, I watched him for a second, maybe longer than I should've, his back muscles moving back and forth before he looked back at me.

"Stop staring."

"I'm not staring."

"You are."

"You wish." I rolled my eyes, sitting up.

"Get ready." he smirked slightly, the drive to school was quieter than usual, not awkward, just, different, my hand rested on the middle console, and I could feel his eyes flick down to it every now and then almost like he was stopping himself but couldn't control himself for long yet
he didn't touch it, didn't move closer and weirdly,
neither did I.

"You're quiet." he said after a while.

"So are you."

"I'm driving."

"That's not an excuse." He huffed slightly, almost like he was annoyed, i glanced at him but quickly looked away and pressed my lips together to not annoy him further.

"You're thinking again."

"Maybe."

"About what?" I hesitated.

"Us." His grip on the steering wheel tightened slightly, he's definitely getting annoyed by me.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah."

"And?"

"I don't know." I admitted, looking out the window.

"Last night was, a lot."

"Tell me about it." I glanced at him.

"I didn't mean to upset you."

"I know you didn't."

"But I did." He didn't respond straight away, my throat tightened that i almost choked if i didn't open my mouth to breathe again.

"You confuse me." he said finally, I let out a small laugh maybe to clear the air or maybe to stop myself from spiraling.

"I confuse myself, so that's fair." We pulled into the school car park, and instantly, my nerves returned again and I regretted coming in today, groups of students were already outside, phones out, whispering and looking, i took a small breathe and dug my nails into my palm so it wasn't obvious i was shaking.
