Reese?
Was I dreaming?
Reese, you awake?
Okay, I definitely wasn't dreaming. But then, why did the voice seem so muffled? I open my eyes, and it was blurry a bit. When I finally adjusted my vision, I realized I was in a hospital bed. The walls around me were white, but the door and windows were a bit blue. I looked where the voice was, and I felt my eyes tear up.
It was Val.
"V-Val..." I struggled to say.
"Oh my god.... Reese!" she cried.
"W-where am I?"
"Do you not recall of what happened?" she answered.
I thought of everything that had happened before I came here. It all came flooding back to me.
I was furious at my dad for getting alcohol on my favorite dress when all of a sudden my arms started getting those robotic lines on them. I remember trying to hide them from him, but he saw and said something.
"No! I will never let you seek your powers, you witch!" He sounded like he was screaming for his life.
Before I knew it, he was punching me in the face, chest, and legs. It burned even more than the third degree burns I've encountered. The last thing I remember is Daniel gasping at my near dead self, and Mike pushing Dad into the wall.
"I will never let you seek your powers, you witch?" I said out loud.
"What?" Val said.
"My dad said something about me having powers." Then a crazy thought hit me in the head. "Val, do you think..... do you think that your kidnapping might have to do with my dad?"
Val's expression turned confused.
"Why do you say that?"
"Your kidnappers said something about you having powers right?"
Val nodded.
"Well, I was told by my father that I have these powers. What if I'm a part of this- what was it called?- Mystics of the Light thing?"
Valery put a finger to her chin and thought for a moment. After a moment, she looked at me with wide eyes.
"Do you think there might be some sort of Spirit World out there?" she asked me.
I put my hand to my bandaged head. What was happening to our world? Before I could ask Valery anymore questions about what happened, I heard the door creak open. I looked towards the door, and I saw a familiar little face. Daniel!
"Reese!" he cried, "You're finally awake!"
He ran to hug me, which made me wince, but I didn't mind. I heard someone else come through the door, so I look behind Daniel and saw Mike. I furrowed my brows. I pulled back from Daniel and looked at my older brother.
"The hero has come," I said, my voice slightly raspy.
He smiled and put these bright flowers on my little side table.
"Just wanted to see how my little sis was doing," he answered, "I can't believe Dad would do that to you."
I frowned and looked at the flowers he brought. I'm surprised he brought in my favorite flowers. Lilacs, white roses, orchids, and a few daffodils. He noticed me looking at the flowers and smirked.
"What, thought I couldn't remember one small thing about you?"
"I'm surprised you got most of my favorites."
Daniel, Val, Mike and I talk for the rest of the time we were there. I pretty much forgot about what had all happened.
It felt like when Mom was still around.
