Pixie Forest

It was 12 and I still haven't told Valery about anything I saw.

I was outside, just staring at the background and waiting for another vision of the panther and firefly.

"BOO!" I heard.

I yelped and looked up from my picture.

"Val!" I shouted, "Don't do that!"

"I have to!" she replied, "It's fun!"

I rolled my eyes and realized that I had to tell Val.

"Valery," I started, "There's something I need to tell you. It's about the both of us."

Val gave me looks of confusion. She sat down besides me and I noticed her ears move slightly towards me. Probably an elf thing, and she didn't know. I told her everything. From me being a part of the Elder tree and her being an elf. When I was finished, she gave me the most strangest response.

"SO COOL!" She shouted, "I've always wanted to be an elf, but I didn't know I was one and I just love the way their ears are and everything and-"

"Whoa! Calm down," I said, "No need to get excited about it all."

"BUT I'M AN ELF!"

"And I'm one with the Spirits."

Val rolled her eyes and looked at my background.

"Do we go from here?" She asked.

"I'm not sure," I replied, "But all I know is that one hour here is one day over in the Spirit World."

"So no one's gonna notice us gone for a while, huh?"

I shook my head. I mean, sure if we were in the Spirit World for 24 days then it would be the next day here, so I hope we don't miss much school. Just as I looked at the background, it started moving and I saw the young sapling.

"Young one," he said, "You must go inside that small room of yours, if you want to come here."

I nodded and led Val to my room. In there, I locked the door and put my sketchpad in a standing position.

"How are we suppose to go there?" I asked.

"You jump through," he said.

"Like THIS!" Val shouted, and she jumped through the paper.

She landed on her butt on the glowing blue grass.

"That hurt, but I did it!"

The young sapling nodded his head towards me and I walked back. I ran as fast as I could through my room, and I dove into the picture. I landed on my back.

"That was..... insane," I said, looking at the roof of bluish green leaves.

"Anything can be insane that's not from the human world," Val said, "Now, why did you need us here?"

"My grandmamma. She told me to bring you two to the Pixie Forest. It's a part of the Bright side of the Spirit World."

"What do you mean Bright side?" I asked.

"Years after your mother died, the Spirit World Guardians decided to "Protect" the Spirit World. Seeing how your Mom was a part of the Mystics of the Light, the Guardians were envious that you got the power of your mother instead of them."

"What does the power do?" Valery asked.

"The power...... the power is incredible. It can destroy, create, and even understand the surrounding area around the Mystic."

"Like what happened-" I began.

"Exactly like that," the tree replied.

After a bit of walking in silence, I looked around. The trees were a shade of depressing blue, and as we got farther away from where we came it transformed into shades of purple, red, and even black. We didn't go into the black part because that's where all the dark magic was. When we finally reached the green shades, I realized how more lively and beautiful it looked. Compared to the dead and horrid plants in the Dark side.

"I know this is random, but you never told me your name," I said, breaking the silence.

"Hmm?" he muttered, "Ah. Well, I'll tell you, if you tell me one thing."

"What's that?" Val asked.

"I asked Reese."

Val rolled her eyes.

"Please!"

"Fine." He looked to me. "How many years has it been since your mother died?"

I hesitated to answer. I was eight when Mom died. I was almost fourteen now. Gosh, it feels like an eternity since she died.

"Even though it was six years ago," I said out loud.

"Six years would equal more than 500 years here."

Val and my eyes widened. 500 years! That's insane. So.... how old was- wait. I gotta know his name now.

"Now," Val and I said in unison, "What's your name?"

"Oh, yes. My name is Aspen."

"Like the Big tooth Aspen?" I asked, my knowledge of nature coming to me.

Aspen smiled.

"Just like it, actually. You see, plant people here are named after certain plants in your world. There's not one person you meet that doesn't have a familiar name to plants on Earth."

I then heard twinkling near my ear, so I turned to look and I saw, not the firefly, but a golden glow of a.... PIXIE! The pixie's pink hair glowed with the same luminescent as it's skin, and her dress was made of pink rose petals.

"Oh!" I said, "Hi there."

"Hi!" she said in a high pitched voice.

She sat down on my shoulder and looked over to Val.

"You are so cool," she whispered, her face in front of the pixie.

The pixie giggled and climbed on my hair to he top of my head. Even though she had wings, I guess she preferred to used her hands and feet. How.... Cute.

"If there's one pixie here," Aspen said, "Then we must be close. Be sure not to pester with them too much."

"Because their bites hurt like bee stings," Val and I said in unison.

"Yes.... Like bee stings. How do you know that?"

We looked at each other and laughed.

"On Earth," I said, "We have fictional books that tell us, from a character's point of view, what certain fantasy like creature's act like. Guess they got the pixie bites right."

The pixie on my head slid down my dark brown bangs and smiled, upside-down.

"Yup," she said, "Proud of it too!"

I laughed. Right as I did so, the flowers and plants around us started glowing. The flowers started blooming open, and other pixies of different, bright, colors emerged from them. They all crowded around Val and I.

"Who are they?" they wondered, "The Mystics of light? Humans? Intruders?"

"Calm down, everyone," Aspen interrupted, "These two girls are relatives of the fallen leaders from the Mystics of the Light."

"F-fallen?" Val asked.

"Yes," I said, blankly, "My mother died. Did someone from your family die recently?"

Val thought for a bit.

"My great grandmother."

"There you go," Aspen said.

"So....." Val said, "That means we're...."

"We're the knew leaders of the Spirit World, right?" I finished.

Aspen nodded, with leaves rustling off his branches.

"A few others are also going to help you, but for now it's just you two. The others were captured by the Guardians."

"W-wait.... what?" Val and I said.

"You know who they are, don't you?"

"From personal experience," we said, and a hush went through the crowd.
