Reese

I got out of my crazy state, and I was on the verge of mentally breaking down for what had all happened.

"It's not your fault, Reese," my mother said as I sat in front of Aspen's body. "Your power was taken, and corrupted magic replaced it."

"Reese," Azelea, as everyone told me her name was, said. "Remember when you were hit with that red dust?"

"Yes," I replied looking at her through blurred vision. "I apparently was out of my body."

She bit her bottom lip as she continued onto this story.

"A long time ago, there was a witch and... she found out about the pixie dust long before it was in the hands of pixies. She found out what properties they took on people, and when the pixies abused this power, she hid it from them. Sorrow overwhelming her, Grody had taken advantage of her knowledge. He cast a curse on her to make sure she wouldn't betray him unless a powerful counter-strike took away the spell. The corruption of the affect made the witch be taken over by her power. She... when the red dust was available to her, she saw you as a target; you were also a target for Grody, so she thought why not take her while she's here."

My mind spun with answers as to who this witch was. It was obvious, but my head thought it could be so many other people.

"This witch was you, wasn't it?" I asked with bitterness in my voice.

"Reese-"

"YOU MADE THIS ALL OCCUR!" I yelled while standing up. "If you didn't try to kill me, then we wouldn't be in this mess. The people of Earth would still be there living in peace, Aspen wouldn't be dead and-"

"You can save him, you know," she said with her voice quivering.

"How can I?!" I shouted as my voice echoed within the room. "My power is corrupted, and I have no clue as to where my true power has gone!"

"Exactly where I'm continuing my tale from. The red dust is controllable like any other dust. However, it takes a special kind of spell to make it use its second form."

I blinked when she said that.

"Second form?" my voice cracked. "What second form?"

"It... if you.... I used my wand to make the red dust steal your power, so I could absorb it."

"Is that why Reese had that odd affect on her?" Autumn spoke.

"From that pattern on her skin, being able to speak with her mother through this alternate world, even her hair turning a different color.... it was because I stole her powers while I was still under Grody's spell."

I walked up to her, and Azelea stepped back. Her silver eyes were innocent and filled with regret.

"I'd done horrible things to the people of this land while I was under his curse. Nothing, no word, can describe what... punishments I should get for my sins. For all I know, when I leave the Spirit World, I might not grown from the ground. I'll very much likely grow into a forest fire."

"If you can save Aspen and or the people of Earth," I said. "Then give me my powers back."

Azelea nodded. She closed her eyes and stepped back. Her tears flowed from her eyes and to the ground as she began to speak her spell. It was a language I didn't understand, but I could tell she was hurt by the vile actions she's done.

She then began to rise from the ground. Her wand disintegrated into this green fire as a funnel of wind surrounded her. Suddenly, this golden sphere came out of her chest and made its way towards me. It floated in front of my face as my eyes darted between Azelea and my power.

Azelea's features were becoming old and wrinkled. She had bags under her eyes, her fingers became thin and scrawny, and her hair turned from a pale blonde to white. She smiled at me and nodded towards the golden light.

I looked back at my power. It felt like a heartbeat. I let it glide into my hand as it shot out into a bunch of pieces and went into my chest. I sighed as I felt refreshed and new. This cage then instantly came out, and it held a light blue light. I touched it, and it floated into Aspen's chest.

Just as it did so, then funnel of wind stopped circling Azelea, and she collapsed onto the ground.

"Azelea!" Alex shouted as she ran to her. "W-w-what's going on...?"

Mom walked over to the old witch. She put her hand to Azelea's forehead. Her eyes shut slowly as her lips pursed.

"She's an elderly Spirit," she spoke. "She's been around longer than any of us. Her time has come to leave her form."

"Y-you mean..." Rose said. "She'll die?"

"I'm... an old soul," Azelea said with a raspy voice. "If... I could... I wish.... I could've stopped this. I was... quite old when Grody.... found me."

My eyes began to mist up from her words. She didn't have any choice in what she did, and here she was apologizing and dying in the process. She then held her frail hand out to me, and I hesitantly took it. She was so small now that I felt if I made one wrong move, then she would shatter into a billion pieces.

"Thank you. I'm sorry I couldn't see you before, but I was blinded by power and greed."

And with that, her eyes closed, and the wind blew her away into a silvery dust. The dust then flew into the air and morphed into a small and lush sapling. Its leaves were emerald green, and they shone like diamonds. I picked up the tiny plant and felt this sorrow overwhelm me.

I'm sorry, Azelea, for all the troubles you've been through.
