Luna lay in bed the next day, well into the early evening, staring at the ceiling in confusion at what she had seen.
She hadn't seen, let alone spoken to, Spider-Man in years, and now she knew his identity. He seemed so broken. She could see it in his eyes. She wondered if he knew who she was, and if maybe that was why he acted so strange. He couldn't have known. She never told anyone.
She felt the urge to do something crazy now. It was a strange feeling she hadn't felt in years, this sense of urgency, the chasing of the thrill. There was a reason he was seeking her that was too clear to ignore, but she just couldn't quite read into it.
She remained deep in thought until a knock at the doorframe snapped her out of it. Ned, holding his tablet, leaned up against the doorframe. "Hey, you good?" He inquired. "MJ said you didn't even get up for breakfast or lunch."
Luna stared at him, unsure what to say.
"Oh, you're sooo hungover." He giggled. "I see now." He nodded. "Totally fair."
"What? No- no, I'm not. I didn't even drink anything last night." She denied.
"Come on." Ned dragged the end of his sentence, teasing her.
"I didn't!"
"Come onnnn"
Suddenly, his tablet chimed, "Spider-Man spotted."
Luna quickly sat up. "Where is that?"
"Huh?" Ned furrowed his eyebrows.
"Spider-Man. Where was he spotted? Just now." She asked urgently.
"Why do you care?" He chuckled. "You told me this app was stupid and probably inaccurate."
"Yeah- it is, I just--I wanna know."
"Uh...okay..." Ned fumbled to turn on his tablet and put in his password. "At the...At the Damage Control Data Center in Manhattan...Why?"
"No...reason." She stood up and made her way towards the door. "I, uh...you're right. I'm so hungover. No use hiding it since it's so obvious, right?" She began to push him out with her door.
"And I really need some alone time, cause my head..." She put her hand up to her face. "...hurts soooo bad...so...make sure not to come into my room for the night, okay? Thanks!" She slammed her door and instantly ran to her closet, rummaging through the boxes pushed to the darkest corner.
Ned stood for a moment outside her door, confused, but chose to walk away without arguing, chuckling to himself, obliviously.
"Come on, come on," Luna muttered, throwing useless cardboard boxes across her room until she finally reached the one she had kept far away for the last four years, taped over so that no one questioned its existence enough to go through it, an ordinary-looking box, her Lunar Eclipse suit.
She slowly and hesitantly pulled it out of the box and stared at it for a moment, running her fingers along the dark blue lining and tough purple fabric. "This is crazy." She sighed. As she was about to stuff it back inside, she caught a glimpse of her reflection warped in the moon emblem in the center of the suit.
"Fuck it."
She scrambled to put on the suit, remembering how hard it was to get into such a tight and rubbery fabric. She grunted and jumped as she pulled it on as if she were putting on a pair of really skinny jeans. "Shit!"
"Everything okay in there, Luna?" She heard MJ call from outside the door.
"Yeah! All good! Don't--Don't come in here!"
