I walked home after being blessed by the girl, who's name I still did not know. I noticed someone standing outside of my front door with a bag of what seemed like a towel and extra clothes. Noticing the light, messy blonde hair and the pale skin, I knew it was Jessie. But how does she know my address, I asked myself. "Hey Jessie, how do you know my address?" I asked, remembering that I never gave it to her. She seemed quite confused herself. I stared into her icy blue eyes and stopped making eye contact after getting the chills.
"Connor gave me the address!" She exclaimed, giggling. She turned around to open the locked door, but stopped after realizing it wasn't her house. She signaled politely for me to open the door with my house key. "Wait, Connor doesn't know my address either?" I asked her as I led her through my doorway. She turned around slowly and looked at me in the eyes again, but this time, they seemed to actually freeze me. I stopped as we stared at each other and after a minute of awkward silence, she finally talked. "Actually, I don't really know how I found out where you lived." She stopped talking and smiled, revealing her cute dimples again. She seemed so innocent. Is she stalking me or something? I looked away as she turned and dropped her bag on the floor.
She was wearing another cute dress. It was pink with the same white ribbon from a few days ago tied around her waist. Her hair was up in a side ponytail, but her hair was still yet a perfect type of messy. "Do you have your bathing suit?" I asked her as she took a seat without being invited to, on my couch. She looked up and walked back to her bag after kicking off her flats. She nodded to me as she pulled the dress-like swimsuit out. I could tell she really liked dresses.
She walked slowly while stretching, to my fridge. She had small, petite feet, that made no noise while she walked to my kitchen. "I'm hungry, can I make something for us to take to the water park?" She asked, pulling out the sticky rice I had made earlier. She also pulled out a box of sushi and the almost empty one to put in her bento box. Her bento box was shaped like a bear and I looked at the other one I had on the kitchen counter. It was just a rectangular pink box that could barely hold the food I had made earlier.
I heard a knock on the door and some arguing. I opened the door while Jessie continued on with making my home "her" home. "Oh hey Kevin...and Connor," I said, looking Kevin first, who was most likely pushed into my bushes by Connor. I invited them both in and Kevin walked to the staircase, where I had sat. "First of all, why is Connor here, and who is that girl making food?" Kevin asked as he took a seat next to me. I chuckled and said that I had invited Connor because Allison couldn't make it. He nodded, but I could tell he was still frustrated. I was about to tell Kevin about Jessie, but I was interrupted by the commotion that was going on in the kitchen.
Kevin and I got up from our uncomfortable seats and walked into the kitchen. "Hey, back away from my food!" Jessie yelled, forcefully pushing Connor into my wall. Once he regained his balance, he rubbed the back of his head and snapped back, "At least make the other two guests some!" She glared at him and he stopped moving, like he fell into a trance. "If you want it that bad, just share," Kevin said, rolling his eyes and not feeling and sincerity to Connor who had been hurt. "What? Why would I share food with a stranger?" Jessie said, pushing Connor away from her, making him come back down to earth from space.
"I thought you knew him Jessie?" I asked, being very confused again. She seemed like she had known him when I found her at my door, waiting for me. She looked confused again and then smiled. Her cheeks grew as red as a tomato's color and she rubbed her neck out of embarrassment. "Honestly, I don't know him, I only know his name from my other friends," She said. Kevin stepped out from behind me and introduced himself to Jessie. You could tell he thought she was very pretty, knowing how he even introduced himself traditionally, bowing at a perfect 90 degree angle, and reaching out for her hand to shake. She took it and the mood grew very peaceful. "Hello, My name is Jessie, It's nice to meet you," She said, smiling widely and blushing uncontrollably, "You are Asian?" He nodded and then pushed Connor out of the way as he naturally helped make more sticky rice for himself and Connor. I laughed at the connection between Jessie and Kevin, then looked over towards Connor, who didn't look to pleased.
"Man, I really want food," Connor said, scratching his messy hair. He walked over to my front door and picked up his bag on his way to the door. I looked at him, and observed his outfit. He didn't really look like he was going to go to a water park. He was wearing black skinny jeans that seemed a little too loose and he was wearing a red short sleeve shirt. It was so hot outside and I could only imagine how miserable he must have been in those pants of his. I walked out behind him as he almost slammed the door on me and grabbed his wrist. "Connor!" I said, rather loudly, "You can't just back out now! Why did you even come if you were just going to leave, plus you even packed a bag." He broke his wrist free from my tight grasp and started to walk. I shouted to him again and he stopped at my driveway.
"I don't even know why I am here! Why am I here Maria? Kevin doesn't even like me, and it's his birthday party, why should I ruin his day?" Connor said, turning around and dropping his bag. He looked rather irritated. I didn't want his day to be completely ruined. "Listen, Kevin would want you to come and have a good day, he doesn't hate you Connor. He is just a little angry still about his test, which I still think is stupid," I walked over to his bag and picked it up for him. He had no choice but to follow me back inside. Once we got back in I noticed Kevin standing a safe distance away from Jessie. He had a worried look on his face, but once he noticed me looking at him, he changed his expression from scared to "overjoyed". He didn't notice me staring so I just went along with whatever was happening at the moment. I figured Jessie just said something really weird that must have scared him a bit.
After a couple more hours of sitting around and getting along, Kevin apologized to Connor and we got up to go to the bus station not to far from my neighborhood. We all payed for our bus ticket and all entered. I have never been on a bus because I have always gotten rides to places, but because of parents and their jobs, I had no other choice. I walked down the walkway between the seats, following closely behind Kevin The only room was in the back, and we still had to stand. Jessie decided to change before we left into her swimsuit/dress. The color of the suit was blue and it was like a loose tank-top and some short shorts, nothing was showing so no creepy men really had the chance to see anything, which is a good thing.
I let everyone else grabbed onto the safety handles hanging from the room, and Connor took the only remaining pole. I was standing next to Connor and Kevin, to make sure they didn't say anything to each other. I didn't entirely believe their "apology" to each other, it seemed more fake and meaningless. It was a long ride knowing how we needed to get more into the city for the water park. As the bus drove over an unexpected speed bump as it drove onto a bridge, I stumbled a bit. I stumbled enough to fall right into Kevin. He caught me, but seemed to hang on a little longer than he needed to. After he asked if I was okay, I nodded and he let me go. I was sure I was blushing, so I put my head down slightly and stared at the floor. I turned around and noticed there was an empty seat. Why hadn't I noticed it earlier? I sat down and Connor slid in next to me before Kevin could get the chance. He must have noticed how awkward I had acted after Kevin had held me. "That was awkward," He whispered into my ear. I shivered as his breath tickled my ear. I hate when people whisper into my ear, it just feels so weird. I scooted closer to the window and nodded, not really knowing how else I should reply.
I looked out the window and was in awe of the beautiful blue sky and river. The river was sparkling under the sun, and it reflected the light right through the tinted bus windows. I was blinded but my vision soon came back to me and I was able to admire the great pair once again.
I was relieved that the long ride was over and happy that we were finally able to escape the heat of the day. I was sweating more than I ever had before on that stupid bus, and I'm sure everyone was just as relieved and thankful to be off that bus just as much as I was. We walked into the packed water park and everyone let out a sigh of relief that we finally arrived. We bought our tickets and entered the large park.
