I woke up to my front door being slammed shut. My mother yelled out for me and I rushed downstairs, stumbling and holding the handrail, just in case I happened to fall. I was still waking up when she snapped in my face.

"Why didn't you start to boil the water?" She asked me. I didn't understand what she was saying until I looked at my most recent texts from her on my phone. I forgot to turn on the ringer on my phone, which led to me not noticing that she texted me. I looked towards the kitchen and saw no pan with boiling water. I apologized with a formal bow and she let me escape to my room once again.

Once I retreated to my room and closed the door, I took out my phone to call text Mrs. Young. I asked her if Anne had woken up yet. I wasn't expecting any exciting news knowing that she barely got out of surgery, but it's always good to hear some news. She replied to me saying that everything was okay and Anne was healing faster than expected. I sighed in relief and pulled out my laptop to check the school website for any homework that we had.

I scrolled down on the school website's feed, disgusted by all of the scams and pointless posts that immature children would post. I finally found the homework assignment of writing anything interesting that happened during my weekend. I thought of a lot of things that had happened, but decided not to write about any of the events that had taken place. Instead I decided to pull out a piece of line paper from my drawer and wrote about me going to the water park with new friends. I thought of Connor and how happy he would be to have some sort of appreciation from me.

I laid back down on my bed and laid there until I was called down for dinner. I walked and sat at my small round glass table as my mom told about her day. The events she talked about were really boring and I asked if we could see Anne one more time that day. I was very shocked when she agreed that we could visit her for an hour.

When I walked into the waiting room with flowers in my hand (we decided to get Anne something) no one else from Anne's family was there. I figured with it already being dark outside, they had already visited her, said their prayers, and left. My mother decided to wait in the waiting room, not wanting to see Anne in her current condition. I was led into the hospital room and the nurse left me without a word. I walked next to Anne's bed and placed the artificially colored roses on the table beside the bed. I pulled up a chair and looked at Anne again, and this time she looked a little better. Her lips didn't look as chapped and still had some color. I looked at her complexion which seemed better too. She didn't seem so pale, in fact she looked tanner than before this accident.

I grabbed her hand and held onto it for a few minutes. I really did hope that she would wake up soon, and whatever was causing her to do these certain things would not affect her after this. She must have been traumatized from the wound and witnessing it first-hand. I kissed the palm of her hand and then looked at her. I couldn't resist it anymore. I leaned in and pecked her on the lips. I pulled away quickly as my mother walked in. Her heels were annoying and alarming. I was scared that she caught me, but she called me out of the small room and never mentioned anything.

I rushed up to my room and rubbed my head. My headache was growing into a migraine and I knew that I should sleep before my mom had the chance to mention anything, just in case she was waiting until we got home to talk about what she "witnessed".

I closed my eyes and didn't think about the painful headache. As I was laying in my bed, I thought about how I had slyly kissed Anne. I shivered at the thought that our friendship could perhaps develop into something else. I rubbed my head once again, and slowly fell asleep.
