A group of doctors walked out, and I tried not to notice and ask a bunch of questions. I asking a bunch of questions in my head though. A few minutes later two more doctors left, and I was allowed to enter. I was greeted by Anne's brother Tom, and her mother. I gave them a smile and Mrs. Young left to use the bathroom. I took Mrs. Young's place for the time being and looked at Anne with a stern expression. "What do you want Kevin?" She snapped back. She had looked very pale and her lips were very dry, she shouldn't have made me worry like this.
"You know how worried Tom and Mrs. Young must have been, you shouldn't let yourself get like this, it worries me too," I said, touching her forehead with my pointer finger. She rolled her eyes and turned her body so she was laying on her side, facing her older brother. "He is right Maria, you have to take care of yourself so things like this won't happen," Tom said, chuckling, but then becoming serious again.
Mrs. Young entered the room and said that she had to get back to work, and Tom said that he would just call a taxi when he left. I waved goodbye to Mrs. Young and she said goodbye to Anne as well, but it wasn't that sincere of a goodbye.
"You can go Tom, I don't need you here with me," Anne said, laying back on her back, "You can go away to Kevin." Tom and I decided to stay put, just for Anne's sake. Anne grabbed the remote and turned on the TV, and for a few hours we all watched some pointless show on the news channel. I had completely forgotten about school for those few hours that seemed to last forever, but I was soon reminded after my mom texted me saying that she got a notice from the school saying I had not come back from the hospital yet. I said goodbye to Anne and her older brother and left the room quietly. Her nurse and doctor were coming to check up on her so I had greeted them and said she looked better before. I called my mom and told her to pick me up at the hospital that was nearest to the school. We really only have 2 big hospitals in this town, and they are both usually full of people, but today it seemed quiet, like the world was at a standstill. That small piece of heaven was taken away from me once I stepped outside and met my mom.
"What happened, why are you at the hospital?" My mom said, cursing in Korean. "Mom, calm down. Anne had an accident and fainted from dehydration, I had to check on her. I forgot about school, I'm sorry," I said, adjusting my glasses. My mom accepted my apology and took me back to the school.
Lunch had just ended, and I was hungry. I hadn't realized how hungry I was until I saw one of the students throw away a nice, uneaten, red apple. How could she waste good food like that? People are so thoughtless when it comes to food, and how many people in this world would go through trashcans just to find a bite of food.
I walked into my 5th period class, which was History and completed the chapter review test that we got every week. In history class, we moved at a very fast pace, so we usually finished the majority of the text book, and all of the mandatory lessons we need to learn by the end of the school year. I tried my best to focus on the test, but a little part of me was still worried about Anne. I decided that I would make sure she at least drinks two bottles of water everyday, for her health.
After school my mom picked me up and our next stop was the grocery school. We needed more groceries, and we were also going to make a celebratory dinner for my younger sisters 10th birthday. My sister is growing up to fast, it seems like just yesterday she was 2 years old, running around in her pink diaper. She is so old now, and she acts like a stuck-up brat who is older than me. My mom sent me off to go get flowers, a nice simple birthday card, and a delicious cake for my younger sister, Ellie Kim. I met back up with my mom in the self check-out area and the wait for a register wasn't that long, knowing that this store was closer to our house, which was also on the more rural side of town, and not a lot of people inhabited this part of town.
We arrived at home and my dad went to go pick up my sister from her after-school program once my mom gave him the keys. My older brother, Andrew, who was only about 5 years older, was home. He showed me the barbie we got for our sister. Our sister is a big fan of Barbie and loves anything to do with it. I'm of course not a fan of barbie, because she isn't that pretty of a doll in my eyes.
My sister got home and we celebrated for the rest of the day and had a wonderful dinner and deserts after my sister opened her presents. I was still worried about how Anne would be at school tomorrow, if she was able to attend school. I decided to pack Anne two water bottles, just in case. I woke up in the morning and was ready for the day, hoping everything would be OK.
