Following the gunshot was an ear piercing shout into the night sky. Someone had been shot. I heard footsteps behind me so I decided to run towards the sound, like an idiot. As I was running I said to myself, "Why are you such an idiot? Run in another direction!" I was disobeying my own orders and continued to run, I was so scared.
I stopped running after I had gotten myself quite far away from the sidewalk. I had no idea where I was, which scared me even more. After a few minutes I found myself in a clearing, next to a dying person. She was definitely homeless, and definitely shot in the leg. I gasped at the sight, and I knew I could be loud knowing that the person with the gun probably ran away quicker than I came. I sat down on my knees next to the person. So much blood.
I diagnosed myself, I was traumatized. I didn't know what to do, I had no phone, what was I supposed to do? I put my hand on the wound and tried to stop the bleeding by putting pressure on it. I had seen doctors do this in shows, so it was the first thing I could think of. She screamed loudly as I put pressure on it. "Help me!" She pleaded. She was crying, a lot. I couldn't blame her either, she was in pain.
She was loosing a lot of blood. What did she shoot her with? I tried to comfort her as she bled out. If we didn't get help soon, she would die. She pleaded and pleaded for me to help her, but I could do nothing to ease her pain. "I-I'm sorry, I don't know what to do, you're to heavy for me to drag to the street," I said, whimpering quietly. I took a breath and she gulped.
"I-it's okay, just stay with me please. It will be good to escape this misery I guess," she said, wincing and taking a few pauses to groan in pain. I felt horrible, just letting her sit there, just letting her die like that. I told her that I will report the soon-to-be murder to the police. I put pressure on her cut again, trying to stop the blood. My school uniform was stained in blood, it would look like I was the murderer now. I sighed and she asked me to stop doing whatever I was doing.
She whispered slowly, "Thank you for staying with me, I hope there will soon be more people with a kind-heart like you in the future." The color drained from her face, signaling that she was almost dead. I stayed with her until she died when, and the sun was now gone. The moon was covered by thick clouds, so it was dark and hard to see where I was walking. I knew what I had to do, I had to tell the police.
I slowly made my way farther into the forest without realizing it. I thought I was leaving it, but apparently not. I grew tired after what seemed like an hour of waiting, and dropped to the floor. I was so tired and only wanted a few minutes of sleep, but I had to keep walking. I had to get out of this unfamiliar place. I walked a few more steps, before finally falling due to exhaustion.
