The water park was packed, as usual and before doing anything, we took a seat outside of the gift shop. "Where should we go? Can we go to the wave pool first?" Jessie asked, getting a little too excited. Connor was excited to and this was the first time I had seen him actually happy when being around Kevin. Kevin, Connor, and I had to change into our swimsuits because we decided to not do it at my house. My swimsuit was navy blue and was also a one piece that I realized was pretty normal; not too ugly and not too pretty. We walked to the wave pool after changing and Jessie left us with her stuff and ran into it. Nobody in this city seemed to like the wave pool for some reason so it was pretty empty. More fun for us right?
Connor ran in to with Jessie and handed his bag to me, as well as Jessie's. Kevin noticed I was struggling when himself and I, or the "parents" of the group, were walking around to find a place to sit. He pulled Connor's bag from me and we finally found a place to sit. We put our bags by the lifeguard who promised to watch it for us and we ran into the large pool to meet up with Connor and Jessie who were floating in the floats that were shaped like donuts. They were more in the deep end and the lifeguard advised us not to go deeper (the water was at our waists) unless we had a floaty for ourselves, or a life jacket. We called Connor and Jessie back but they decided to stay out and enjoy the fake waves. Kevin and I let them be and walked until the water was to our knees and took a seat.
"Sorry about how I acted when I got my science grade, I didn't mean to be mean," Kevin said. He had already apologized to me more than once over the last two days of school, and it was getting kind of annoying. I flicked the side of his head and he winced in pain. I accepted his apology once again and asked him not to apologize to me again. He nodded and got up to catch a floaty. I grabbed one that was floating out into the deep end, before it could make it, and floated out to Connor and Jessie with Kevin.
After we were in the wave pool for about an hour, just chillin', it got boring so we decided to go out and hang out in the lazy river. I personally hate the lazy river, it is so boring. I didn't object to the idea because I didn't want to ruin the fun for everyone else. After the lazy river, we decided to get some drinks and ice cream before eating our full lunch later. I'm personally a fan of desert before lunch. We hauled our stuff over to a seat while Connor and Kevin went to go order our ice creams and I gave him extra money for a coffee that I really wanted to have. Kevin had gotten over 30 bucks so he offered to buy everyone ice cream and a drink. He didn't have to but he insisted on it and didn't let anyone argue or persuade him to do anything different.
While Kevin and Connor were waiting in line, Jessie tried to make some small talk with me. "So are you and Kevin like a thing? I saw the way he held you when you stumbled on the bus," She asked me, making me feel rather uncomfortable. I shook my head and my cheeks grew warm. No one has ever told Kevin and I that we look like a couple, or were ever asked such a question. We have only been asked if we are siblings, therefor I was quite embarrassed and shocked. Jessie giggled at my reaction and said she was only joking. It was awkward for the 5 minutes we had to wait for our ice cream and milkshakes (well a frappe for me). I was so relieved once I saw Kevin and Connor walking back with their hands full. I got up to help Kevin who had the most items and had his change in dollars hanging out of his mouth.
We ate slowly and only observed the people around us. I stared at a family who were waiting in line to order their food at the same place we just ordered our ice cream from. The two girls who were clearly identical twins had both parents closely next to them. The young girls were wearing the same type of two piece bathing suit, and the only difference was that they were different colors. I find it annoying how parents dress their twins exactly alike. The girls looked about 7 and were begging for the snack with the most sugar (A banana split, I'm guessing) from the menu. The father looked so done with them and sighed. Their mother looked irritated and like she needed some help with her parenting methods. She made the girls sit in their rented stroller that looked absolutely uncomfortable. They walked out of the line quickly and apologized to the surrounding people who looked just as angry with their children. I took another bite of my ice cream and sipped my vanilla frappe. I turned around to face Connor and Kevin. It was about time someone started a conversation.
"So, what should we do next?" Connor asked, but he directed the question to me. I shrugged and asked Kevin and Jessie. We finally came to an agreement to go on some of the water slides. When we finally got up to walk around, Jessie stopped us to talk to a passing-by boy who seemed around the age of 16. I knew she was attracted to him because her cheeks grew red and the next thing she said made us all shocked.
"You are pretty cute, how old are you?" She asked out of curiosity. I never met someone so blunt and quirky as Jessie. Connor cracked up and apologized to the innocent young man. Jessie was just the perfect person to make you feel uncomfortable, enough to make you want to run away from her as quick as possible. "Jessie, you can't just tell people that," Connor said, leading her away from the poor guy. He whispered something into her ear that was inaudible to my little ears. She nodded and I could tell she felt really bad about making everyone feel uncomfortable. The group of teenagers quickly walked away laughing.
We had fun and made sure to do everything before leaving for my house again. Kevin decided he would walk me home as Jessie and Connor waved goodbye to us. Jessie reminded me of her birthday party and I had no other choice but to agree to go. She also invited Connor and Kevin. They agreed right away, but I think they agreed just to have something to do.
"Thanks for coming today Anne. I had a lot of fun," Kevin said, pushing me as the street lights started to come on. The bus ride was long and I made sure my dad knew that I was going to be late by texting him so he wouldn't be worried. I looked at Kevin as he placed his hand on my back and slightly pushed me. I wanted to stop walking and ask him something, but I just couldn't muster up my emotional strength to ask such a thing, but my curiosity might have killed me if I didn't ask.
"Kevin," I stopped talking. He was staring right at me, and I was staring back into his dark brown eyes. The last bit of light shined through the trees that lined the streets. It disappeared to fast, and Kevin was moving in closer to me. He dropped his bag and placed his warm hand on my cheek. I moved my head back a bit, being scared of what was going to happen next, but nothing happened. "Thanks for being my friend Anne," He said. He pulled me in closer to him and hugged me tightly. I sighed in relief. I knew the answer to my question, and I was quite pleased and relieved that I didn't even need to ask him anything to know his answer.
