Kan lead me outside and said his goodbyes, disappearing into the night. I felt bad for him, not being able to wake up ever, but at the same time, he can do anything, without worrying about people noticing. It must be hard for him not being able to tell his parents that he loves them, or being able to tell his family and friends goodbye before he left, forever.
I took a deep breath, but after hearing something rustle through the bushes, I became silent. I turned to the direction of my house, and decided that I would just hang around my room until my body chose to wake up. I started to pick up the pace after I spotted a black and white animal, with a bad stench, scurrying the bush. I walked up my front porch steps and bolted towards the door as the skunk crawled closer to me. I was stopped once I slammed into the door and fell to the floor. I was expecting to just go through the door, but apparently that doesn't happen without Kan being around. I started to realize that he was more powerful than me, and could do other things I can't. I had a large headache and growled at the skunk that ended up running away from the loud bang on the floor.
I walked around the side of my house and struggled to climb over the fence, but after five minutes or so I finally made it over. I opened a window that led to my living room that had no screen and was always unlocked. I climbed through and fell onto my couch. I closed the window and sat back down on my couch, relaxing, and taking in all of the events that happened in the last two days. My life is going by too fast. After a few minutes, and still being restless, I got up, fixed my skirt, picked my wedgie, and looked at the microwave's clock. I read 9 P.M. It's literally only been an hour, what am I supposed to do while I am sleeping tonight? I got up and fixed the bangs that were sticking up and flying around, annoying me. I walked up the stairs, slowly, knowing that anyone could hear me now. I looked through the crack of my parent's bedroom, only to see them sound asleep. I walked to my room and opened the door, and saw myself sleeping soundly too. I walked to my open window and let the cool breeze play with my bangs once again. I started to think about what Kan had asked me before disappearing so abruptly. "Will you help me wake up?" The words continuously played again and again in my restless mind.
I backed away from the window, growing cold, and still thinking about Kan's question. To get my mind of things, I decided to explore the streets, and go walk around, to see what's happening in this small little town.
I got excited as I escaped through my living room window again. I have never been left to explore the town that I have lived in for almost all my life, without being attended by an adult. Also, nothing could happen to me, because no one can see me. I walked slowly down the road, wondering what would happen if a car just hit me, I would certainly be dead, and no one would know. I ran to the side walk and observed the falling leaves as I walked. For the first time in my life, living here, I acknowledged the beautiful trees with their leaves of many warm colors. The trees here in this rural town never seem to have any hint of green in them. It seems like fall all the time here. I took my attention away from the falling leaves and the night sky, and focused on whimpers coming from the little mini-forest I walk through from time to time. I walked quicker, letting my curiosity get the best of me, towards the sound. The closer I seemed to get, the more it sounded like grunts, and small cries of help. I started to get worried and hoped I would be able to do something. The moon was shining bright and lit my way to the distressed girl. Once I got closer, I realized she was struggling to break free of an older man's grasp. Nothing was happening, but I knew what was going to happen if I just let them be.
Without thinking, I ran and shoved the man down. It sure was exhilarating to watch him struggle to get up, being in the shocked state anyone would have been in. I mean, "something" that normal people can't see just knocked someone down. I stopped feeling amazing of my accomplishment after he got up and shook off the feeling of surprise and got back to what he was initially trying to do. I can't let him rape that poor young, innocent girl. I was dumbfounded, He started to choke the young girl, without any thought of what he was doing. I knew what his next move was going to be, I needed to do something. I kicked him off her and slapped him once he regained his balance. I could tell he was scared because he ran away as quick as the skunk did once I startled it.
