Patiently waiting

When someone asked him,
"Why did you wait?"

He could have found somebody else.
He could have chased another heart,
filled the silence with another name,
and convinced himself
that love was something
he had to hurry toward.

But he simply smiled and said,

"Because it may take an eternity
to find the right one.

And somewhere along the way,
I learned that love is not a race.

My time was never wasted.

Every lonely night taught me patience.
Every unanswered question taught me understanding.
Every goodbye taught me kindness.
Every moment I wanted to give up
taught me what it means to stay true
to what your heart believes.

Real love is patient.
Real love is kind.
Real love understands
that two people have lives,
dreams,
fears,
and their own paths to walk.

You cannot force the right person
to arrive before their time.

So I waited.

Not because there weren't
other people in the world,
but because I learned
that finding someone
isn't the same as finding the one
you want to build a life with.

Love doesn't need a stopwatch.
It doesn't care how long the journey takes.

And if it takes an eternity
to find something real,
then an eternity
isn't too long to wait.

Because real love
is worth the wait."
