Georgie's POV

The skies had turned dark by now, and the cold British winter was tiring. I felt this overwhelming sense of loss, like I was missing an important thing, I just didn't know what. I feel like I'm being watched, everything I do is being ridiculed and judged, but maybe I'm just paranoid about being back home. I've obviously been away for some time, and I'm scared to leave the house in case someone who knows me sees me, and starts asking questions I don't know the answers to. What do people think of me now? I used to be popular; I had many friends and liked the life I lived, but what if it had changed in the time leading up to the accident? What if everyone hated me now? I couldn't stand people disliking me, especially if I can't even remember what I had done.

"Georgina?" I heard a shout once again from downstairs. I slowly got off the bed and trudged out the room and into the hallway. "What is it?" I asked, peering over the staircase and down to my mother who was standing by the front door. "Gracie's here to see you" She gave me the fake smile, which was starting to get on my nerves now. I hurried down the stairs excitedly and pulled open the front door. There on the porch, was the only friend I can remember I trusted. She hadn't changed at all. Her hair was still light brown, and her eyelashes were still the longest I had ever seen. She stepped forward into the hallway and stared at me for a while, her eyes looking me up and down, as if she didn't recognise me, who could blame her. She stepped backwards suddenly and grinned, her white teeth shining against the light. "Now I get why your mum asked me to bring this" she reached into her bag and pulled out a box of blonde hair dye, handing it over and stared at me even more. "Thank you" I laughed, stepping forward and putting my arms around her waist. She hugged me back tightly and the smell of her honey shampoo made me feel more comfortable. "I have wine too" she whispered in my ear, making both of us giggle as we pulled away.

"You girls can go in the kitchen, I have lots of housework to finish before I go to sleep" Mother cut in, before walking off into the living room. We walking together into the kitchen and Gracie sat down on a stool by the counter, as I went to the cupboard and took out two wine glasses. "So, what's changed in the last two years that I should know about?" I put the glasses on the counter and leaned opposite her, as she pulled a large bottle of red wine from her bag and placed it in front of us. "Quite a lot I guess but people still talk about you though; no one knows what happened that summer when you moved away. One day you and Gwyn were here, drinking shots with all of us at the bar, and then the next, you were both on a plane to the other side of the world" She shrugged, screwing open the lid and filling both glasses to the top. "Does anyone know why I left?" I frowned; taking a sip and enjoying the feeling of it burn my throat. "Just Gwyn I think, you'll have to ask her. I know you had some big heart to heart with Josh before you left but even he won't give any more details than that" She picked at her nails and sighed.

I had forgotten all about Josh. I was in love with him, why would I leave him behind? "What happened to Josh after I left?" I panicked. "Well he did what most of us did after you disappeared. We were shocked to start off with, confused, hurt and angry, then just sad. After a while, when we figured you wouldn't be coming back, we moved on. It took us sometime to adjust, but things are getting back to normal, well, the normal without you which isn't very normal, but we're trying" She sounded sad, and I couldn't believe why I would do this to all these people that obviously cared. "I'm surprised he hasn't called you yet as well" She added, lightening the mood slightly. "Why would he?" I was confused. "Because he still loves you, and when he found out you had been in a car accident he cried and shut himself away. We were all terrified for you" She gulped down the rest of her wine and leant against the counter. "I wish all of you were there when I woke up, there were just these people that I knew nothing about, talking to me like I knew them, I was so scared" I whimpered. Gracie got up from her chair and walked back over to me. "Well I'm just glad you're safe and back to your normal self" She looked a little drunk as she brought me into her arms and squeezed me. "Me too" I laughed at her. "I think it's time for you to go home before you throw up on my patio again" I chuckled, taking her arm and guiding her back towards the front door. "Wow, you can remember a night we had from years ago but yet you can't remember what you did last month? Your mind works in mysterious ways" She snorted.

"But I'm so glad you came back, everything fell apart without you" She mumbled, as I opened the front door and she stumbled out onto the driveway. "Well I'll make sure I can fix it all" I watched her as she started to walk to the road. "Be safe" I called after her, and she simply gave me a wave before she scuffed along the pavement back to her house. I closed the front door and yawned. Today has been exhausting; all I wanted to do is get inside my nice new bed and sleep, forgetting about everything that has happened since I came back, even if it is only for a few hour.
