I picked up my rain soaked bag from the mud and opened the back gate leading to the road. Gwyneth lived a few miles away, so I walked. It was raining, but there was something quite peaceful about it. I was glad I had left; I'd needed to take a stand. I had been weak for too long and let too many people push me around and get the better of me. But not anymore. I wouldn't let myself be hurt like that again; from now on I would be stronger.

I reached Gwyneth's house and was surprised to see her standing outside in her pyjamas, huddled under an umbrella. When she saw me she ran over and sheltered me from the rain. "You made the right choice hun. I was worried you weren't going to come" she sighed, smiling at me. "We're leaving for the airport tomorrow" she whispered, leaning close. "Seriously?!" I said, a slight flicker of hope flashing across my face that I knew Gwyn noticed. "Yeah, we leave in the morning" she grinned. This was what I had been dreaming about for four years. A new life, on the other side of the world, over 9000 miles away from everything I'd left behind. "Come on, let's go inside" Gwyn said, motioning towards the door "Oh, and happy birthday Georgie"

"Good morning" I entered the kitchen and Gwyneth was sat at the counter, sipping a glass of orange juice. "Morning" I smiled, walking to the kettle and switching it on. I turned back and looked at her whist leaning against the kitchen counter. "Are you feeling better now?" I said comfortingly, as she sipped her juice. "Yeah, I think it must have been jetlag or something" She shrugged. "What about you? I heard you patched things up with Michael" She giggled, looking down at his shirt. "We had a good talk last night" I bit my lip and smiled at the ground. "You little slut" She burst out into laughter and got off her seat. "It just happened" She walked over to me and hugged me, which took me by surprise, but I smiled and hugged her back. "I'm happy for you, everything's going to be alright now" She whispered into my hair. The kettle had boiled and I turned away and took out a mug from the cupboard.

There was a sudden sound of something hitting the floor from behind me, something large and heavy. I paused, putting the kettle down and turning slowly around again. I didn't notice at first, I thought the room was empty. Realisation hit me and I froze, glancing down and seeing Gwyn unconscious on the floor below me. There was a small puddle of blood next to her; I couldn't tell where it was coming from. "GWYN" I screamed, falling down and grabbing her shoulders. She groaned and scrunched her eyes. "Gwyn what happened?" I panicked, looking at my hands that had patches of blood of them. "I...I don't know" She stuttered, trying to push herself up. "I'm taking you to the doctors" I ordered, standing up and holding out my hand.

Calum walked in and looked over at the two of us, pausing for a second before realising and rushing to the floor. "What the fuck" He sat her up and cradled her in his arms. "Something's wrong" She cried into his chest. "I'll go get some clean clothes and then take you to the doctors" I waited for her to nod and Calum to agree before I ran up the stairs, along the corridor and bursting into my bedroom. Michael was sat up in bed on his phone, and he jumped when he saw me race over to the wardrobe. "What's happening?" He got out of bed quickly and walked to my side. "I haven't got time to talk, I have to take Gwyn to a doctor" I opened the wardrobe and pulled out a change of jeans and a long cream knitted cardigan. "Is it serious?" He turned me to face him and I sighed, putting my head on his shoulder and he put his hands on my waist. "I don't know" I mumbled. I pulled away from him and hurried away again. "I'll tell you what happens" I opened the door again and ran out, rushing down the stairs again and going back into the kitchen, where Gwyneth had gotten up and was sat on a stool next to Calum.

"Here" I handed her the clothes and she smiled weakly. "The bleeding's stopped" She mumbled, pulling the cardigan over her shoulders and taking off her blood stained shorts. She put on the jeans and stood up, throwing her shorts in the bin and standing next to me. "Calum called my doctor, I have an appointment in ten minutes" She tied her hair up and looked over at me. "You still want me to take you?" I glanced at Calum for reassurance. "Of course, take her" He smiled faintly, walking to Gwyn and kissing her cheek. "Tell me what happens, you'll be fine" He comforted her.  "Come on then" I put my arm around her and guided her out the kitchen and down the hallway, looking up at Mike as he stood at the top of the stairs. I opened the front door and walked her out, getting her into my car and sitting down before starting the engine.
