"This isn't goodbye." Tobias assures Tris, his chin resting on the top of her head. "I swear to god this isn't the last time I'll see you." Tris pulls away and looks at him sadly, her hands resting on his ribs.
"We can't control that." She says quietly. "We thought Marlene and Lynn and Will and Al were dead, but they're alive."
"Tris, look at me." He says sternly. "I don't care what they say. I love you and this is only temporary. I'll find a way for us to be together again. Just give me a little while."
She kisses him lightly and then smiles sadly. "I love you too. Good luck dealing with your parents."
He smiles. "I think I can handle them. Good luck with Caleb." Her stomach twists into knots. What if he finds someone else? She thinks. What if he finds someone better? What Tris doesn't know is that Tobias is also wondering the same things.
"Be brave, Tobias."
He kisses her. "Be brave, Tris."

Ashlyn turns up her iPod's volume, waiting in Philadelphia's airport for her 'family' to arrive. She's been through both of her Paramore songs, all of her Taylor Swift music, blasted every Maroon 5 song she has so loud that her parents yelled at her to turn it down, and is now through Missing by Evanescence, Together Again, What You Want, and the album The Open Door. She's halfway through Fallen, listening to Tourniquet and tapping the beat with her foot.
Bryn taps her and Ashlyn unlocks her iPod, quickly typing in the password before skipping through the rest of the album and stuffing the iPod and her headphones into her bag. She'd decided to wear something not so Hot Topic-looking today, going for plain black jeans, a black T-shirt, and her usual black boots. Her hair is braided, and she has plain black hoops in and the same small silver studs in her second piercings that she's had for a while. Bryn, however, had worn a bright pink, green, blue, black, and white shirt with blue jeans and her navy blue Keds. Her hair was in a ponytail and she wore silver heart-shaped hoops. Ashlyn rolls her eyes at her sister's outfit and looks up.
None other than Marcus Eaton walks towards them, his ex-wife Evelyn walks beside him, and Four- she'd decided against calling him Tobias, wanting to leave that as what only Tris calls him- trailing behind them. He's tall and handsome, with dark blue eyes and short, dark brown hair.
Ashlyn's parents introduce themselves to Marcus, Evelyn, and Four. Four is closed off and quiet, while his parents and put off the perfect-family vibe. Ashlyn wasn't falling for it. Four drops down in the chair next to her. He wears a plain black T-shirt, black jeans, and what looks black Converse.
"Hey," she says, pulling out her iPod again.
"Hey," he replies. "I'm-"
"Four, I know. The Dauntless prodigy."
"Guess it's common knowledge."
"In a sense. So where's Tris?"
"No clue. She wasn't supposed to come here."
"She's in California, if that helps. On the other side of the country."
"How would you know?"
"I have my ways. You're 18, right?"
"Yeah, you?"
"13. I wish I could take an aptitude test. Being Dauntless would be cool, but instead I've gotta live up to everyone's expectations."
"And what're they?" He looks genuinely curious.
She shrugs. "Grow up. Become a lawyer."
"Lawyer?"
"I'm good at arguing, apparently." She shrugs again. "I just want to know if I'm Divergent or not. Guess dreaming's for kids though, huh?"
"Not necessarily."
