Lacey pulls up in front of the Leason's house right on time. Tris walks out with a tall, dark haired boy holding her hand. The guy is about her age, but probably a head taller than her, even when she's in heels. Tris wraps one arm around his neck, pulling him down and kissing him. She keeps the other arm on the strap of her duffel bag, but he wraps his arms around her waist. That would be Four. She thinks.
Tris waves goodbye and tosses her bag into the back seat of her Dodge Challenger and climbs into the passenger seat. She watches until the house is out of sight, then turns to Lacey with a smile. "Thank you so much for coming to get me."
Lacey smiles, but doesn't look at her cousin. She'd rather not risk getting into a crash. "No problem. But I should warn you. My mom doesn't exactly approve of your boyfriend."
Tris looks only slightly confused. "I know that she doesn't like him, but why?"
"Because our family is like, millionaires since my-aunt? Great aunt?- anyway. Since Amanda Ritter went into the Chicago project. The families involved got paid a great deal. Or at least, we did, since she created the whole idea. So she doesn't like 'country hicks' like your boyfriend." She uses one hand to make air quotes around 'country hick'.
Tris rolls her eyes. "He's got better manners than I do." Tris says. "And so do his cousins. And the younger one is like, five years younger than me!"
Lacey laughs. "That doesn't matter to my mother. Just be careful, okay?" She glances down at her purse. "In my purse there's a few things for you. Go ahead and pull them out."
Sure enough, there's a small black bag for Tris. She pulls it out and looks in the bag. In it is a letter, an iPod, and iPhone 4, a black Otter Box, an iPod case, and a pair of earbuds. "I already downloaded some of my music to your iPod. And I got all of your friends' phone numbers- thank Marlene for that- and put them into your phone."
Tris looks up at her cousin that she'd only talked to before today on the phone. "Thanks."
Lacey's mouth curves upward. "No problem. I also put some games on the iPod and your phone for you. Figured you'd get bored on the drive." Tris pulls out the iPod and the case, looking at the back. It's a minty blue-green, yellow, and orange, and a dark blue outline of what looks like the Navy Pier. If she looks hard enough, she can imagine the silhouettes of two people.
"It's pretty. Thanks."
"Figured you'd like something that isn't plain black."
They both fall silent. Tris unlocks her iPod and sets a password. She plugs the headphones in and clicks on a random song. The music is pretty loud, but she likes it. She looks at the name. Chasm by Flyleaf. She grins. Maybe this ride won't be so boring after all.

Tobias sits down with Ashlyn on the couch and watches The Hunger Games with her. "You like the weirdest things." He says.
She makes a face, watching Cato try to climb up the tree to kill Katniss. "The Host would've made sense if you actually read the book."
He rolls his eyes. "Are you trying to convince me to read?"
"Yes."
"Well City of Bones was weird too."
"Was not!" She slaps his arm and then goes back to watching the TV.
"Was so." He teases.
She rolls her eyes. "Says the guy that went into his fear landscape every day for two freaking years." She checks her iPod and then unlocks it. She'd changed her password on him so that he couldn't get into it.
"Instagram?" He asks.
"It's tough being a fangirl. I need to obsess with someone."
"I thought Kelly was for that."
She rolls her eyes again, as if the answer should be obvious. "I can only fangirl with Kelly about so many things. She doesn't get half of it!"
He reaches his arm behind her and tugs on her ponytail. "Screw you." she mutters. A minute later she locks her iPod again. She looks at the screen again. "Oh, come on Four, we all know that you cry whenever Rue dies."
"Zeke did. Shauna and Lauren confirmed it." She laughs. "Don't laugh." He pokes her in the ribs. "You laugh whenever someone except for Rue or Cato dies."
"It's funny." She insists. "Their deaths are comical."
He gives her a look and shakes his head a little. "You are insane."
"If I'm insane, then you belong in an insane asylum."
They play-argue until the end of the movie. "Four!" She groans. "You made me miss the end of the movie!"
