/\ Four years later /\
Zeke and Shauna get married the first day of June. Lynn and her girlfriend, Kristen, had helped Marlene, Shauna, Cara, Tris, and Christina plan the whole thing. The wedding was part Dauntless tradition, and part American tradition- thanks to Ronny and Ashlyn- and it was amazing.
They were officially married at midnight, and after that it was all joking around and stuff until they all decided to go to sleep before they passed out. Christina and Will are now engaged- three months in- and Lacey and- surprisingly- Peter are dating.
Marlene and her grandmother moved to Pennsylvania so that she could be near her friends, and everything was working out well. Marlene works at a store in the mall not far from where Tris and Four live, and Uriah- like Four and his brother- is a cop. Uriah had proposed to her just after his brother's wedding, and they're going to get married next year in Walt Disney World.
It's the Fourth of July. Like last few years, the Leasons decided to go to that lake campground up in the mountains, and Tris and Tobias agreed to go. Tobias stands next to her by the water, fireworks going off overhead.
He smiles down at her, holding both of her hands in his. She's twenty-one now, and he's twenty-three. She stands up on the tips of her toes and presses her lips against his, a short, sweet kiss. "I love you, you know that?"
She smiles. "Of course. You don't let me forget it."
He sighs and looks out over the water, which reflects the fireworks and the stars like some mirror. He knows he'll remember this night forever. "Tris, I don't think I can date you any more."
Her heart sinks. She'd been expecting this for years, though she'd been hoping that it never happened. "What?"
He smiles. "So, I was wondering..." he lets go of one of her hands and pulls out a small box, revealing a plain silver band with a single diamond on it. "Will you marry me?"
She covers her mouth with her hands, surprised. "Tobias..." she nods. "Yes. Yes I will." She hugs him tightly, and he pulls away and slides the ring onto her finger. For a few minutes, they stand there and kiss, with the sounds of fireworks and small waves hitting the small strip of sand at their feet. When they leave, they're both glowing happily, as if some of the full moon's light was living inside of them.
