A/N: This skips ahead a few weeks. So it's the beginning of December :D
Tobias looks down at his phone, surprised to see Zeke's name on the screen. Despite him, Shauna, and Lauren living about two hours away in Philadelphia, he hadn't talked to them in almost two months. Zeke was busy as a cop, Shauna worked at a small clothing store, and who knows what Lauren's doing. On top of that, Tobias had been working half of the day, then taking classes at a college whenever he could to try and become a cop.
He rarely got to see Tris, too.
She was always doing something, though mostly she helped out at the Leasons'. She worked at a store in the mall about thirty minutes away from them, though which one he couldn't tell you. Sure, they lived in the same place, but he was lucky to spend five minutes with her, much less go out with her.
He picks up the phone. "Hello?" he says.
"Hey, Four." Zeke says. "What's up?"
"Oh, nothing much. School, work. You know. All of the stuff that drives us insane."
Zeke laughs. "Yeah, it's definitely not training initiates anymore, huh?"
Tobias looks out the window of his apartment, a smile forming on his lips. "Yeah, definitely not. So, how's Philly?"
"Busy."
"Meaning?"
"Lot of crime."
"Ah." Tobias nods. "That makes sense. So how's it going with you and Shauna?"
He can almost hear his friend smiling. "And so we're at the reason I called."
"Oh God." Tobias says. "Wait- did she dump you?"
Zeke laughs. "No, no. Nothing like that. Actually, the exact opposite."
"She dumped you?"
More laughter. "And here we thought you were smart." He gets serious. "Four, we're getting married."
Tobias almost jumps off the couch. "What? You are? Why didn't you tell me?"
Zeke laughs. "Calm down. The wedding's not for another year. You'll come, right?"
He nods. Then realizes that Zeke can't see him. "Yeah. Yeah, of course. And congrats. I'm glad that you finally got brave about it."
"She wasn't too subtle about dropping hints."
"And exactly what about Shauna is subtle?"

When Tris walks in the door of the apartment, she almost jumps out of her skin. Tobias is sitting on the couch, looking out the window and talking on the phone. He looks up when he hears the door open. His eyes widen. "Yeah. Hey, I gotta go. I'll talk to you later." He hangs up. "Wow, um. I wasn't expecting you to be home so early."
She shrugs, dropping her keys and her purse on the table, and hanging her jacket on the coatrack. "Power outage."
He nods. "Same. All that damn snow..."
She drops onto the couch next to him. She's wearing brown boots, black leggings, and a black, gray, brown, and white sweater dress. Her hair is in a side ponytail, and as usual, she's wearing no makeup. He's dressed like he usually is when he's not working- black V-neck, black jeans, and black boots.
She reaches over and takes his hand. He looks at her black-painted fingernails. "It's been forever since we've been together alone for more than five minutes."
He nods, moving closer. She leans her head against his shoulder, and he wraps an arm around her shoulders. He kisses her forehead, and she lets out a sigh. "I've missed you." he says, pressing his face into her neck.
She smiles. "I've missed you too. It's crazy that we live in the same place and never see each other."
He nods. "I'm so used to being worried about keeping you alive and making sure that you're not dead or fatally injured, that this feels..."
"Strange." She finishes.
"Yes. Exactly." He pulls away from her a little, pressing his hand against her cheek. "God, it's been forever since we've been able to actually have a conversation."
She nods, placing her hand over his. "I've been wanting to have a conversation this long since I found a job." It was decided that anyone that had been going through an initiation process or had completed an initiation process didn't have to go to school, since they already knew everything that was required.
"We'll have more time together soon, I promise." He kisses the skin between her eyes. "Just hold on until I'm done school. Then I'll get a job as a police officer, and we'll be good."
She smiles, pressing her lips against hers. "How long?"
"Well," he exhales. "Since I'd already done a lot of training in Dauntless, they said that by the end of next year, I should be fine." He just then remembers something. "Oh! I almost forgot- Shauna and Zeke are getting married."
Tris grins. "Really? When?"
He shakes his head. "Sometime next year. I don't know. He says that he just proposed to her."
She grins. "Will already told Christina that as soon as they've graduated college, he wants to marry her."
He laughs. "Soon we'll be the only unmarried pair in our group."
Tris's smile falls. "Well, maybe not."
He cocks his head to the side. "Meaning?"
She sighs. "Marlene. She hasn't talked to Uriah since New York, and even then they barely talked."
"Why..." He shakes his head. "I thought that she loves him."
"She does." Tris says. "It's just...I don't know. Marlene says that he'd been distant the last time they talked, and that she's afraid he's moved on, but doesn't have the heart to tell her."
Tobias sighs. "Well, they're probably just as screwed as we are."
She laughs, wrapping her arms around her neck. "This is only temporary, though. You said so yourself."
He nods. "Yeah, only temporary."
"Good." She smiles before leaning in and kissing him.

"Uriah, you have to call Marlene." Uriah lets out a long, low breath. Ever since Zeke had moved to Philadelphia with Shauna and Lauren, Uriah hadn't really done anything.
So, yeah, he'd been avoiding calling Marlene- but he was afraid that maybe she still hadn't forgiven him. And anyway, what if she didn't want to see him again? What if she found another guy that she likes more than him?
"I can't, Zeke. You know that."
His brother groans. "Uriah, just do it. If not for her then for yourself. I know you've been beating yourself up about God-knows-what since she died."
"Fine. Whatever. I'll call her." He hangs up and drops his phone onto his bed, staring at it. He really didn't want to do this- what if she hates him?- but he picks up the phone and dials the number he memorized the moment he got it.
"Hello?" Her voice is calm, happy, even.
"Hey, Mar."
"Uriah." She sighs. "I thought I'd never talk to you again."
He laughs. "You think I could seriously just stop talking to you?"
"I don't know. Could you?"
"The answer is no. No, I couldn't."
"Good. So what's up?" He leans back against his pillow and tells her everything. She then tells him what she's been up to, and they have a conversation that lasts well into the night. Finally, at three in the morning, he falls asleep, dreaming about her, and seeing her again- hopefully soon.
