Someone knocks on the Tris's bedroom door. "Come in." She calls. She glances back to see Lacey leaning against the open doorframe in black jeans, a black sweater, and black hiking boots.
"You wanna go shopping today?" Lacey asks. She'd pulled her dark blonde hair back into a high ponytail, the ends of it curling slightly.
"Do I have to?"
Lacey rolls her eyes. "It's been two days, and you've been stealing my clothes. I think it's time we fill up that closet of yours." Tris looks at the walk-in closet that she unfortunately has. Christina would have a better time living with this family than her.
"Fine." Tris sighs. "But I'm not buying any dresses."
"If it helps, I hate shopping too." Lacey tosses Tris her phone, which Tris catches one-handed. "I'll take you to some less-girly stores. And you have to buy makeup. I think my mom's planning on having a party soon. So if you don't buy a dress, you're wearing one of mine anyway."
Tris groans and pulls on her shoes. Lacey turns to leave, but stops and looks over her shoulder. "Oh, and it's chilly out. You might want to wear a coat. Meet me downstairs in five."

Tris is down there in three minutes. They live two or three blocks from Times Square, so they walk up. Lacey drags her into American Eagle, Aeropostale, Macy's, and a few other stores. She finds a Hot Topic and takes Tris in.
Tris buys 30 pairs of jeans, 31, shirts, 19 pairs of leggings, 9 dresses that she actually likes, 10 skirts, and 13 pairs of shoes. Lacey forces her to get 17 pieces of jewelry- despite her protests. She refuses to get a purse of any kind, insisting that it's unnecessary. She makes her get eyeliner, too, as well as some nail polish, and some lip gloss. She also gets a pair of black lace floral fingerless gloves. Lacey also confinced her to get The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones leggings, a makeup set, and some chick named Clary's bag.
When they get back to their home, they head into Tris's room. They drop her clothes onto the floor and collapse onto the bed. Lacey laughs for no reason, and Tris joins in after a few minutes. They stop after a minute, and Lacey sits up. "Okay, then. Let's put all of this away."
It takes them about a half hour, but when they're done Tris's closet is about half-full and organized. She shuts the doors and Lacey grins. "Okay, so my mom told me before we left that we're hosting a party in two days. What dress are you going to wear?"
Tris grins. "The red one. From Hot Topic."
"Well, it looks like I don't have to worry about you stealing any of my clothes anymore." Lacey nudges her. Her phone rings, and she pulls it out to check it. She sighs, unlocks the phone, types in a reply, and locks the phone. She looks at her cousin. "Dana's here. She wants to go out with me and a few friends."
Tris nods. "Okay. See you later."
Lacey gets up and leaves the room, then grins to herself, holding her phone against her chest. She gets an idea, then, and unlocks the phone. After sending a quick text, she runs to the elevator. Maybe Tris won't be so lonely in New York after all.
