The good news: I have seemly missed school and soon my detentions

The bad news: Seth has gone on camp and Charlie has left to go back to his new home so he can complete uni

The in between news: Daisy is stupid.

The I'm dead news: there's someone in the house and it's not Daisy

The sad news: the funeral is tomorrow and trust Charlie, he's getting married tomorrow as well and I'm not even invited

The urgent news: can someone call the police?

The I'm totally dead news: Some bearded guy just broke down my door and is coming over to me with an axe

The I'm still alive news: I kicked him in the face and ran for it

The Charlie is so dead news: the person was Charlie's best friend, who now needs stitches

"Sorry jerk face" I apologise

"Nice to see you too" he says and sits down

"What are you doing?" I ask him

"Waiting" he replies

"Waiting for what?" I ask

"For you to sit down and arm wrestle with me" he tells me and I do

Well I won very quickly

"You've gotten stronger"he comments

"And you've gotten weaker" I say kicking him out, except it doesn't work since he manages to get back in

"You know Charlie isn't here" I say

"Yep" he replies stealing my food, I hate him so much

"Then why are you here?" I ask clearly annoyed

"What? Is it a crime to visit my best friends sister?" He asks and kisses me, I quickly shove him off me and punching him in the face

I grab a jacket and leave, slamming the door behind me, I go to the park, getting angrier and angrier step by step

Finally I reach the lake

"What are you doing here?" A voice asks, someone I know, I turn and see Kelly, who cracked a smile

"Getting some air" I say not smiling back

"What's wrong?" She asks like she doesn't know

"Nothing" I lie, I can't be bothered doing this now

"Why are you here?" I ask her

"I felt like enjoying the sunshine by the river" she replies and I roll my eyes, she hates the sun and rivers even more

"Sure" I say disbelievingly

"Where were on Tuesday?" I ask

"I was sick with the flu" she replies, it's very easy to tell that's a lie

"We all know you weren't" I snap, I wish she would jut tell the truth for once

"You just wanted to get out of doing hard work, even though it isn't that hard to show a new kid around" I add

"What the hell is your problem?!" She shouts

"You are" I spit and stomp off

I only get around the corner before I bump into someone else, I look up to see that it is Nathan, his face has a long scratch down the cheek, doesn't look that deep and has two black eyes, and other bruises on his arms and neck

Charlie couldn't have done all of that, could he? I hope not

"are you alright?" I ask him

"Yeah fine" he answers shrugging, for some reason I don't believe him but I let it go, for now

"Sorry about my brother he can be a jerk sometimes" I say

"It's alright, not your fault" he tells me

"Are you sure your alright?" I ask just to be sure

"Yep, want to feed the ducks with me?" He asks

"Definitely!" I reply, snatching the bag of bread from him and running to where the ducks are

I can hear him laughing from behind me

I love feeding ducks

I hear someone kneel down beside me and I know it's Nathan

The end of an old friendship but a start of a new one

"They are so cute!" I say, very excitedly

"Yeah they are" Nathan agrees

We spend the rest of the day together and I felt something that I've never felt before, maybe Kelly and I aren't suited to each other anymore, we've grown too different

Maybe Nathan is giving me a fresh start

"Where have you been?" Daisy demands as soon a so walk into the door

"I went to the park" I tell her

"With who?" She asks, the usual twenty questions game has begun

"Alone at first" I reply

"Then what?" She asks me

"I bumped into a boy from school" I say and she jumps up and down, is it really that exciting?

"What's his name?" She asks me

"Nathan Mackson" I tell her and she gets even more happier if that's possible

"Ooh, I work with his father" she tells me

"In fact they're coming over for dinner tonight" she adds after a moment

"Yay" I say faking extreme happiness, don't get me wrong, I am happy but not as happy as she is

"Well go and do something" she urges me

"Don't forget to put in something nice" she calls after me

This is nice, I don't know what she's talking about

I sit on my bed and read, Just listen by Sarah Dessen

At exactly seven o'clock just as I finished my book the doorbell rings

Can you guess who it is?

They are already in the living by the time I get down there

"Hello, you must be Mira" the old man says

"Hello Mr Old Man" I greet him, and he laughs

"Mira, this is John Mackson" Daisy tells me, giving me an incognito glare, I'm so going to get it afterwards but he is old
