"Mira, could you set the table" Daisy asks me as she continues to rush up and down the kitchen making sure everything is ready
"Fine" I say and do it, when everyone is ready we all sit down and begin
"So what's your favourite subject at school?" The old man asks me, yes I am going to continue calling him that, it has a ring to it
"Music" I reply and Daisy looks half pleased and half displeased q
"Never liked music very much, never saw the point of it" he says, taking a bite of the stake, I have never fancied stake myself but I guess there has to be something that makes people like it
"That's interesting" I mumble, Nathan has been awfully quiet but then again, he isn't the loudest person
"What school do you go to?" He asks me
"Same one as Nathan" I say
"Are you two friends?" He asks
"Yeah I guess" we both reply at the same time
The rest of the dinner the adults talked, while me and Nathan are in silence
"Why don't you two go upstairs and talk" Daisy suggests
"Ok" I agree and we go up to my bedroom, which desperately needs cleaning
"So" I say unsure of what to do now, the only person that has come over was Kelly and she always was going on about something and was in control and knew what she wanted to do and say and when
But this is different, a good different
"Want to play twenty questions?" I ask finally
"What's that?" He asks, how has he not heard of it?
"It's a game where one person thinks something, a living thing or an object and the other person must ask questions about it until they get it" I explain
"Ok, so kind of like celebrity heads" he says
"Yeah kind of" I agree
"You think of whatever and I'll guess" I tell him, lying down
"Okay go" he says after a minute
"Is it an animal?" I ask
"Nope" he replies grinning
"Is it made of metal?" I ask
"No way" he replied
"Is it soft?" I ask
"Yes"
"Is it square shaped?"
"Yes" oh, well that's obvious
"Is it your head?"
"No!"
"Is it the cushion you have for brains?"
"Ahh, umm I don't know what to say to that"
"Is it a cushion?"
"Yes"
We played that game for the next three hours, until we realised that our parents, who are meant to be responsible, were completely and utterly drunk, like not being able to stand up drunk
"Bye" I say as I close the door on Nathan who is dragging his father out to the car
"See you" he replies as the door clicks shut
I go up to my room and sleep, not bothering about Daisy, she's a grown woman now, she shouldn't need help, besides I'm too lazy anyway
~Dream~
"Mummy" I yelled as my mother emerged from her room, she's been in there a lot now, doesn't she like us anymore
