Allie's POV;

It isn't getting better. I thought it would, it wasn't that bad at first. But then Adam started drinking more, and the more drunk he is, the angrier and more aggressive he is. He hits me constantly now, so much so it barely phases me. I have bruises all over my body, but I've become an expert at hiding them.

Shawn texts me everyday whenever he has time, which is nice, because I still have at least one person to talk to. I can't talk much now these days, because I have school. Not to mention Adam always makes me clean the house from top to bottom.

I don't understand how everything has gone so wrong. I seriously thought that these people would be my forever family, even after Hannah got pregnant. I had actually been trying to warm up to the idea of having a sibling. That seems hopeless now. If anyone found out about what Adam did, he'd be arrested, and who knows what Hannah would do or where I'd go. I shake my head, laying on my bed. I've been staring at the ceiling for a while now, letting my thoughts take over me. This happens a lot these days, whenever I have the luxury of being home alone. It's better when Adam isn't here, because when he isn't I don't get beaten.

I'm snapped out of my thoughts at the sound of my phone. I since as I outstretch my arm to grab it, and see Shawn is trying to FaceTime me. I sigh, realizing I don't have any makeup on. I glance at my reflection in the mirror, seeing I still have a black eye. I quickly answer the call, making sure I'm out of the line of the camera as I rush to make myself look presentable and not like a zombie.

"Hey," I say with a smile, sitting back down on the bed. "How have you been? I haven't gotten to see your face in so long," he says with a chuckle, grinning warmly at me. I shrug, smiling back. "I know, I miss you, it's way too boring around here," I say with a sigh.

"Allie!" Oh, no, Adam's back. "Great, that would be Adam. I have to go," I say with a frown. "What? Already?" I nod, rolling my eyes. "He's on a super cleanse streak or something, he's always keeping me and Hannah busy," I sigh. Shawn frowns, looking slightly confused. "Well, I'll try to call you as soon as I can," he says, waving goodbye. I nod, relieved when he finally hangs up. I really do want to talk to him, but I do not want him to see Adam storm in here and beat me. I run a hand through my hair, going downstairs.

I'm surprised to see Michelle standing in the doorway, giving me sympathetic look. Adam stares off into space, emotionless, and I don't even know where Hannah is. "Their license expired, so you'll have to come with me until they can get it renewed." I could care less about getting out of the house, but where will I go? How far will I have to travel? There's only one thing I care about; if they don't ever renew their license, I'll never see Shawn again.

A/N — OMG GUYS I AM SO SO SO SO SOOOOO SORRY I HAVEN'T UPDATED! I kind of hit a rough patch with this book and I didn't really know where I wanted it to go. Again, I'm SUPER sorry it took me so long to update this and I know it's short, but I have to help my family get ready for our Thanksgiving dinner, so I don't have time to make it longer today. I'll try to update soon, I promise! Happy Thanksgiving to those of you who celebrate it!!
Xoxo - Em😊💕
