Allie's POV;
A few weeks later, Shawn leaves for tour again, much to my dismay. Since we talked and officially became friends, we've actually gotten closer. I'm not really sure how I feel about this. Maybe I'm not supposed to know how I feel. Maybe that's the beauty of it.
Once Shawn has left, I start spending more time with Faith and Max. The day after Shawn leaves for tour, Faith brings her best friend Kelly along with her and Max. She's very pretty. Her brown hair is silky and falls just below her shoulders, and her eyes are a beautiful bluish gray. They stand out against her dark hair.
"Allie, this is my very best friend, Kelly," Faith introduces us. I smile. "Nice to meet you," I say shyly. She smiles. "Faith goes on and on about you," Kelly says. "She even told me you kissed Shawn Mendes!!! Is that even true?!" She exclaims. I feel my cheeks getting hot. "Um, yeah, we did. But we're just friends now," I say. Kelly's mouth drops. "Just friends?! That's a death wish! You had the chance to be Shawn Mendes's girlfriend! How could you turn that down?!"
Faith watches Kelly carefully. "Kel, calm down. If they're not dating, maybe it wasn't meant to be," Faith says gently. Kelly rolls her eyes. "You guys are all very strange people. How could you not want to date Shawn? I mean, he's Shawn!"
I shrug. "I just don't feel that way about him," I defend myself. Kelly shakes her head. "We're done talking about this. It literally pains me," she says as she walks into my living room. Faith gives me a reassuring smile. "She's not always like this," she says. I chuckle a little. I don't think I'll ever forget that first impression.
After a while, Faith and Kelly get ready to leave. Hey, where's the bathroom?" Max asks. I get to my feet to show him. Once I do, he turns to make sure Kelly and Faith aren't watching. Then, he presses his lips lightly against mine. I'm shocked, but I don't feel anything except the presence of his lips. I shrug away from him, and his face goes hard. He pushes me against the wall, jamming my back into the light switch. I wince as he stares into my eyes. All I can see is rage in them. Suddenly, I feel his fist connect with my face, and I cover it after he walks away. Once the three leave, I hurry upstairs and look at my reflection in the mirror. My eye is already starting to bruise.

Shawn returns two weeks after he left, and Aaliyah and I welcome him home happily.
I haven't seen Max since he hit me, and I don't want to. I've never seen him as angry as he was, and it frightens me. That's saying a lot. I grew up moving from place to place with total strangers, so not much scares me these days. But Max does.
I walked across the street to Shawn's and Aaliyah's house, where Aaliyah stood with a large glittery sign reading, Welcome home, Shawn! It had so much glitter, the sun reflecting off of it hurt my eyes. "Ta-da!" Aaliyah squeals, presenting her sign proudly. I smile. "He'll love it, Lee," I say. She grins.
A few minutes later, I see Shawn's familiar car pull into the driveway. Mrs. Mendes comes out squealing and embraces Shawn as soon as he's completely out of the car. Aaliyah runs to her dad and he lifts her up. "How's my favorite little girl?" He asks cheerily. She wraps her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist, mimicking the way a koala hugs a tree.
Shawn squeezes out of his mother's embrace and looks me up and down. I see his face fall slightly when he sees my black eye. It's nearly healed, the injury having been inflicted the day after he left two weeks ago, but it's taking its time nowadays.
"What did you do?" He asks worriedly. I shrug and shake my head. "I was playing catch with Faith and the ball accidentally hit me in the face," I lie. He watches me carefully, as if he can sense something's off. But eventually, he shrugs it off and heads inside, the rest of the family in pursuit. Aaliyah beckons for me to follow, so I do as she says.
Everyone visits and laughs happily, and Shawn tells about his time on tour. This time, he went to Chicago. He explains how wild the crowd was, and how unbelievably loud they were. He also rambles on and on about the hotel's gym. "It was definitely the best hotel gym I've ever been in," he says excitedly. I've learned since I befriended him that he loves to workout. He does it on a daily basis, and claims it helps when you're flustered, sad, angry, or basically dealing with any emotion. I've gathered he does his very best work when he's angry. Instead of taking his angry out verbally or physically on a person, he resorts to working out. Maybe Max could take a lesson or two about that.
As Mr. Mendes tells Aaliyah about his experience and how proud he is of how far Shawn is going, Shawn grabs my wrist, making jump slightly, and pulls me outside to their patio. "You wouldn't believe how hectic Chicago was," Shawn says breathlessly as we dip our feet in his pool. "I've heard,"
I reply. He concentrates on his feet making swirls in the water, and then I see a sly smile creep over his face. If a lightbulb were able to appear lit up over his head to signal he'd just gotten a devious idea, it would've.Shawn turns to me nonchalantly, and the next thing I know I'm in the pool. I gasp as I feel him shove me, and my head submerges beneath the waves. I kick my feet and sway my arms until I reach the surface, pushing stray strands of hair out of my face. I stare at him, baffled.
"Shawn Peter Raul Mendes!" I scold him. He breaks out in hysterical laughter, and his smile is so sweet and genuine that I can't not join in. "The least you can do is help me out, seeing as you're the one who pushed me in," I say, cocking my head to watch his facial expression. He shrugs, gets to his feet, and holds out his hand to help pull me out of the pool. I take his hand and yank as hard as I can. Shawn stumbles forward, nearly catching his balance, so I yank his hand again and pull him in with me.
He gasps as his head goes under. When he comes up, he shakes his head side to side like a wet dog, spraying me with water droplets. I tread the water as he pouts at me.
"Not cool," he huffs. I shove him into the water, pushing his head under again. I feel him grab my feet and yank them down. I gasp and scream as I go under again. When we both resurface, our faces are inches apart. Just like the first time we kissed. Once again, I find us both leaning closer. We're not even a fraction of a fraction of an inch away from each other; I can almost feel his facial hair. Suddenly, as we're about to connect, Aaliyah comes bounding outside, snapping us both out of whatever fantasy we were in. We quickly look at her and swim apart a few inches, treading the water as she inspects us. "Shawn, dinner's almost ready! Now you guys'll have to go get dried off and changed. Mom's not gonna be happy," Aaliyah scolds. I chuckle as Shawn hoists himself out of the water. He turns back to me as I swim over and looks me over hesitantly. "You're not going to pull me in again, are you?" He questions. I laugh and shake my head. "No. I promise." He smiles and reaches down to me with both hands. I give him both of mine and he lifts me above the water, a few inches over onto the concrete, and sets me on my feet effortlessly.
I try to shake the awkwardness surrounding me away, and follow Shawn inside.
