Last night was horrible and I still couldn't believe she was gone. We had been through a lot together and even though we went through our rough patch that still has been my friend for 11 years. And now she was gone. I had to call her sister. I dialed her number and waited for it to ring. It rung 3 times before it answered."Hello?" She answered sounding happy. I cringed a bit because I knew I was about to ruin that.
"Oh hey Monica...its Jo."
"Oh hey Jo hows Erica? Did she wake up yet my baby's a fighter." I could hear her smiling through the phone.
"Oh um..." I started to choke up.
"Journey w-what's wrong."
"Monica she's gone." My tears finally came out.
"Journey no she's not! She's at the hospital fighting." She began to sob.
"She passed earlier this morning."
"Why didn't you call me sooner?! It's fucking noon! You didn't think this was something I should know?"
"Listen I know your hurt Im upset too and I know your the main person who should be informed but I'm going through it too I have Jerry and Javon here who's breaking down I'm here hurting I was at the hospital handling paper work I'm stressed too."
"My sister's gone Jo. She has a baby here what am I gonna do with Toni? I'm going back to school soon I can't do that with an 7 year old here."
I forgot that Tony was gonna come up here soon to start living with Erica.
"I'll take him."
"I can't put that on you Jo you have your own baby to take care of."
"I can do it I make good money I have a room here for him and everything. Give me custody I can handle it and that's the least I can do for you and Erica."
"Thank you Journey." She said crying still.
"It okay I love Tony and he should be by his brother. I'll fly down there in a month to get him. Call your mom I can't call her and tell her she lost a child." I sniffed.
"I will thank you." And with that we hung up.
I sighed and got up.
I had just got home a few hours ago but I wanted to check on Javon. He lost the mother of his child and with everything else going on I knew he needed me right now. I went into Jaylen's room and peeked in seeing him still asleep. I didn't wanna wake him so I called Alana to come and keep an eye on him. I had took a quick shower and was ready sitting on the couch waiting for her. I began to reminisce about Erica.
"Thanks for coming boo."she said as she laid in my lap.
"No problem Erica you don't deserve to go through half of the things you go through."
"Tell me about it." she sighed getting up.
"Can I hold your phone mine is in my room and I have to check up on Tony."
She is so lazy.
I nodded and she took it out of my purse and began talking to her son.
