"Charlee wake up!" Lavender shook me awake and I half expected to see sirens blazing again but instead it was the sun streaming through my window the following day. I groaned remembering everything that happened last night.
After telling my aunt and Sara everything we thought they weren't very pleased. Sara especially didn't take too kindly to us accusing the Prime Minister of her home country of a treasonous plot that put the life of his own son in danger.
"Crap did I oversleep?" I ask getting out of bed after much hesitation.
"Yeah, breakfast is over but I saved you some pancakes," she told me as I quickly changed out of my pajamas into fresh clothes. I gratefully took the stack of pancakes on a plate that she handed me.
"Where is everyone?" I ask between hungry bites. The pancakes were thankfully still warm but all the syrup had already been absorbed, much to my disappointment.
"They headed off to Headquarters, I stayed behind to wait for you," she responds.
"Shit sorry about that," I mutter wiping my face and setting my empty plate aside.
"Don't worry about it, we're all super tired too," she smiled assuring me.
When I was finally ready we both left the room and began walking out of the dorms and towards the exit of the embassy. Going back and forth from here to the museum was getting really annoying really quickly.
"Oh I almost forgot to tell you, you have a few missed calls on your phone," Lavender said stopping in her tracks. She reached into her pocket and pulled out my phone, handing it to me.
"Shit," I muttered as I saw the list of missed calls. I had one from Eric, which wasn't shocking but I also had two or three missed calls from Melody.
"Sorry I didn't pick them up, I wasn't sure if I was allowed to," Lavender muttered upon seeing my reaction.
"Lavender, if I can trust you with my life I'm pretty sure I can trust you with answering my phone calls," I laughed.
"Noted," she responded with a joking half smile. We continued to walk in silence. I was secretly glad that we had to walk to the museum rather than take Karlie's van because this was basically the first time I was actually wandering around the streets like a tourist. Italy was pretty hot in the summer but seeing the people, streets, and everything buzzing in between was definitely worth breaking a little sweat.
It's also always a really good idea to know your surroundings in case of an emergency so I tried to take in everything that I could. There were at least three alleys that we've passed so far which are always good when you're trying to lose a tail. Also most of the restaurants have trash chutes like the one in the museum but I'm definitely not looking forward to climbing up any trash chutes in the near future.
"Palma told me that they're going to take a second look at the ransom note and that Bianca is bringing someone in to take a look at the video to check if its been tampered with," Lavender explained.
"Of course it's been tampered with. Boys don't just disappear from their beds into thin air," I muttered.
"If they do then I really would love to know where I can find them," she laughs.
"You sound so much like Blaire," I commented.
"She rubbed off on me," Lavender shrugs her shoulders as we walk up to the doors of the embassy. No secret phrases are needed at the moment since its regular hours and anyone is allowed in.
The museum was bustling and quite alive with the various types of tourists walking around appreciating the art. It was easy to blend in and head to the faculty elevator and activate it with our ID cards.
