Luke's POV
Barronè can't "see" Drew anymore? Does that mean that he's okay now? God I hope so, it was awful watching him breakdown the way he did earlier. "Whaas hapnung? Weyas Drooo?" Barronè repeated. He sounded so lost and terrified, it was heart breaking to watch. "Drews not here Barronè." I explained gently, he looked at me in confusion. "Whyee noh? Wheyas Drooo gone?" l looked at Laurence and Kier, who were watching Cyrus and I closely, somehow still crying. How did they even have any tears left? It seems as if they've been crying constantly since we found out about... everything.
Realising that they would be no help l turned to face Nurse Willow. "What do l do?" L asked her.
"Tell him, we'll observe how he reacts then re-evaluate the situation." l nodded and swallowed hard, then walked over to Barronès bed and sat on the edge. How do l do this? He's already been through so much today. "What's the last thing you remember happening before you woke up?" l asked him. Cyrus looked down and was silent for a moment.
"I remumbrr Drooo und mee wurrr at thee parrk und wee wurr arrguiing. Iii told heeem that Ii didun't luuv heem anee morre. Then Ii went awwaay." Cyrus stopped talking at looked up at me expectantly. l opened my mouth to respond, but was cut off by Willow. "Luke could l have a word with you, outside, before you go any further?"
"Um, yeah. Sure." l got up and followed her out of the room. Barronè should be fine with the other two.
"Mr Barronè seems to remember significantly more then he did the first time. He couldn't even remember Kiers name the first time round. lt's quite likely that he's progressing, l think that it would be best to see if he can remember for himself if given the time. You see it could be damaging to tell him all of the events at once."
I nodded along with what she said. "lf that's what you think is for the best. What should l say to him though? He's not going to stop asking for Drew."
"l know that, from the moment he woke up in the ambulance he was asking for him." She agreed sadly, but didn't tell me what to tell Barronè. Presumably she didn't know either. "How long do you think it'll be before he remembers?"
"There really is no way of knowing, it could be anything from hours to months. He might not ever remember. In a weeks time we'll access the situation and begin to tell him what happened, if he hasn't remembered for himself by then."
l look down at my feet. How did everything go down hill so quickly?
