Luke's POV:
Barronè sat on the edge of the bed and sat on a chair opposite him. "Where did Laurence and Kier go?" He asks me worriedly.
"Bevers has gone to get an xray and Kiers gone with him." I explained softly. Barronè looked at me really guiltily. "Because of me? Because l shoved him? l didn't mean to hurt him! I was just so confused- l had to find Drew." His voice cracked on the last sentence. I tried to imagine how he must feel; today had been awful for all of us but it was worst for Barronè by far. "l know that, we all know that. Nobody's blaming you, we're not angry at all."
He nodded but still didn't appear to believe me. "Is Laurence going to be okay?" he whispered and l nodded quickly even though l didn't really know, from what o'd seen Laurence had looked like he was in a lot of pain, but l wasn't about to tell the Timid that. "He's just got a bit of a saw chest, that's all." l explained and he seemed to lighten up a bit. "Do you think you can tell me what happened today now? l know S-rah said we could take as long as we needed, but l'm sure she has other pacents she needs to visit tonight." Poor Barronès face fell and he looked as if he was about to cry or be sick, or both. "No, l can't! l can't do it! Don't make me. Please, don't make me." He babbled and burst into tears again.
l put my arms around him and said comforting things like "there there" and "hush it'll be fine." l'm really not the best when it comes to tears, although l've done a pretty good job of looking after my band mates today. Eventually Shane calms down enough that he can speak clearly, if slightly disrupted by hiccups.
"Please don't make me relive it. l can't go through that again." He whispers and l really want to tell him that fine, we'll wait until another day. When he's feeling better and he's had time to get over it. But l can't. The nurse is waiting outside and she needs to know exactly what happened to Drew. "You won't ha e to relive it, l'm here, you'll be okay. l know this is hard for you but we need to know." l urged him and finally he relented.
"Me and Drew were at the park and we argued. l said- I told him that l didn't love him. l didn't mean it, of course l didn't mean it, but l still said it. Because l was sad and l was hurt because Drew wouldn't let me tell you guys about us. l thought it was because he didn't love me. Or he was embarrassed to be with me. Or some over stupid reason like that. Then l ran off. l had to get away from him or l would end up changing my mind. l wouldn't be strong enough to go through with the breakup. But Drew came after me and he said- he said "l love you Barronè, l can't loose you. We can tell the world if you want." That's what he said and l turned around and he was coming towards me and l was so happy. l was so fucking happy Luke, you have no idea how happy l felt to hear him say that. And then- l l saw the car, out of the corner of my eye this huge green car was racing along down the road and l screamed at Drew to move and l tried to make him understand but he didn't. And then he saw the car but it was too late and he yelled at me to help him but l couldn't. l ran as fast as l could and l didn't get there. He car hit him and it dragged him along and l couldn't do anything, l had to watch. Ten the ambulance came and took Drew away and l screamed and yelled at them to give him back, so that l could look after him and protect him bit they didn't. l guess the first ambulance must have called for another one because the next thing l know l'm waking up with no idea of what just happened and Drew was gone." I had stayed silent whilst Drew explained his horrible memory and when he was done l was overcome by such a huge wave of complete agony. It finally hit me: Drew was gone and he was never coming home. All my previous plans of staying strong for Barronè were eradicated as I broke down into tears of my own for the very first time that day.
