Unexpected Love

A New Girl?

"I wish it could be Christmas break again." Marisol whines.

Mrs. Grant walks in class with a large and fake smile, "Good Morning class, today we got another new student."

"Another one? How many new kids are we getting this year?" Marisol asks.

"Seems like we're gonna get one each month." Diane jokes.

"Diane if you want a lover just say the word?" Adolfo teases as he turns to look at us.

Being the dramatic girl she is Diane pretends she's about to vomit. "I'd rather eat my own vomit before that happens."

"Um, according to my Snapchat I make a beautiful girl." He adds making her roll her eyes.

"The answer is no," She replies with a wink.

Mrs. Grant stops Adolfo from saying something by clapping her hands to gain our attention. "Class meet Veronica Ramirez!"

I look up to see the new girl and she stands there with jet black hair and warm brown eyes. She's a pretty petite girl and I can see she's caught everyone's attention.

"She's hot," Adolfo comments.

Diane covers her ears, "are you kidding me, Adolfo? That's gross."

"Thank you, Diane, for volunteering to help Veronica." Mrs. Grant loudly says making Diane put her hands down.

"Wait what happened?" Diane replies looking confused.

"Diane you can sit here in the front seat next to Veronica and help her catch up since you love to talk." Mrs. Grant says with a passive-aggressive tone.

"Gladly." Diane replies with the same tone. She gave us a sad smile as she walks away.

Turning my attention towards Sebastian I saw him looking uncomfortable. His eyes kept sneaking glances at Veronica. I look over at Veronica and see her looking at Sebastian. The way she looks at him gave me a feeling that they already know each other.

When the bell finally rung both Marisol and I ran towards Diane. "Ah, how long has it been since I last saw you guys." Diane dramatically says.

"It's been eighty-five years." I also say dramatically.

"Let's go get lunch I'm starving," Marisol says as she grabs Diane's hand. Diane pats Marisol's hand and nods her head.

Just as we were about to leave the classroom Mrs. Grant called out Diane's name. Looking out the window I saw Marisol and Adolfo walking to the cafeteria. "Yes, Mrs. Grant?" She politely asks hiding her slight annoyance.

"Can you show Veronica around the school." Mrs. Grant asks her.

"Sure," Diane reluctantly agrees. She walks towards Veronica but a hand stops her.

"I'll show her around so go enjoy your lunch," Sebastian says.

"Well, aren't you a gentleman. Okay then Diane you're off the hook and I better not see you talking during my class again or else detention okay?" Mrs. Grant warns her. Diane simply nods her head.

Stepping out of the room I see Sebastian and Veronica walk away. "Sebastian!" I called out. I noticed his hand firmly on her upper arm practically dragging her away from the classroom. She didn't mind since she was clearly laughing. I don't know why but he looked so angry at her. How does he even know her?

"What's up with Sebastian? He's practically dragging her away." Diane says. I just shrug and follow Diane to the cafeteria. I sat down next to Adolfo who was talking about Veronica.
