"This is possibly the worst idea you have had, Marisol," I say to her as I try to keep my hair away from my face.
Marisol opens her woven basket and sets up the food for the mini picnic she planned. "I think it's a good idea," Dante backs her up as he sets up some games for us to play.
"Why couldn't we go see a movie like normal people?" I ask her.
"Today is such a beautiful day. The wind is blowing, and the sun is shining." She happily says.
Dante sits down on the blanket and lays his head on Marisol's lap. "You're the only one complaining." He playfully jabs.
Grabbing a grape, I throw it at him. "You know I don't mix well with nature."
Marisol chuckles softly, "oh yeah, how to forget summer camp. She would always fall in the mud and cry on Adolfo's shoulder about her struggles.
Hector finally decides to sit down next to me, and he wraps his arm around my shoulders, "I like her complaints."
"I do not complain!" I huff.
Hector laughs as he plants a kiss on my cheek.
"See, this is nice," Marisol says as she runs her fingers through Dante's disheveled hair. "We are all laughing and having a good time."
"This is kinda cute," I admit.
"We can play with the frisbee and swing on the swings over there," Hector says, pointing out the lonely swing set. "I know you would love to go swinging."
Smiling I wrap my arms around his neck, "you know me all too well,"
He smiles down at me and gives me a small peck.
"You guys can go ahead and go swinging. Marisol and I are just going to relax here." Dante says as he props himself up.
"Aw, I wanted to go swinging," Marisol says, sounding disappointed. Dante looks up at her, causing her to change her tune. "I'll just stay here and let you two lovebirds enjoy the swings."
"Are you sure?" I ask her.
Marisol nods her head, "I'm pretty sure."
Shrugging my shoulders, I stand up and give Hector a hand.
"I bet I can reach the swings before you can," I say to Hector.
He raises an eyebrow, "oh, really?"
I stand in front of him and give him a confident smile, "are you up for a little challenge?"
"Bring it on." He replies, making me feel all excited.
"Loser gets to push the winner!" I shout as I start running.
"Hey, no fair!" Hector shouts after me.
Laughing, I notice he's right behind me. "Looks like imma win!" I shout as I stretch my arm out.
"I have longer limbs!" He shouts as he copies me.
The sensation of cold metal on my fingertips notifies me to stop running. Trying to catch my breath, I see Hector slowly jogs towards me. "You didn't even try!" I say to him as he softly smiles.
"I did too," he defends as he sits on a swing.
"How is it that a soccer player can't beat a girl who hasn't run a damn mile in years?" I question him.
He stands up and takes my hand, "I had to let you win something."
I gasp, "this was a pity win?"
