With Hector, I forget all about my worries and sadness. He brings out a smile on my face even if I'm sad. Sitting in silence with Hector so close to me I suddenly get nervous.
Why 'am I so nervous? It's just Hector.
As he drives I notice his brown eyes look at me for a second but soon flickers towards the road. He did that the whole ride to the Carnival. Whenever our eyes connected in the small mirror he would smirk and butterflies would erupt from my stomach. "We're finally here." Hector suddenly says as he kills the engine.
I nod suddenly confused by my reactions towards Hector. He opens the door for me and I jump out. The crisp clean air fills my lungs as I breathe in. All the lights shine bright against the darkened night sky. They outshine the beauty of the stars but not enough to conceal the waxy silver moon. Walking towards the ticket booth I look around amazed. I could hear the screams of people on the roller coasters and the game booths announcing a winner. Children laugh in happiness, "Where do you want to go first?" Hector asks snapping me out of my daze.
I looked around and see a merry-go-round. "To the Merry-Go-Round," I say excitedly. Hector nods and I practically drag him. I rush to a blue horse in the middle of the circle and climb on it. "Come on Hector!" I say patting a yellow horse next to me. I laughed as he climbed on the horse. After the weeks I've had this was the best medicine. I haven't laughed in a while only faked it but now I'm genuinely smiling.
Hector looked so uncomfortable on the horse. This would honestly make a really funny picture. I take out my phone and take a picture of him. "Hector smile!" I shout at him. He looks at my camera and gives me a silly face. I laugh even harder at him. After the ride, we went on many other rides until we took a break and walked with cotton candy in my hand. What can I say, I'm a sucker for junk food.
Sitting down on this plastic bench Hector looks at me. "Can I have some cotton candy?" he asks.
"I don't think so," I joke with him.
"No?" He playfully replies.
I nod my head. Suddenly he tries to rip off some of the candy. I move it away each time he gets close to it. Laughing I finally grab a bunch out and offer it to him. He opened his mouth waiting for the cotton candy. Smirking I shove it in his face making him gasp. I laughed hard as I saw his reaction. Quickly getting up I make a run for it.
Hector chases me down and I laugh teasing him. "Serena!" He shouts as he finally manages to grab ahold of my arm. He pulls me in close to him and I feel my heart race once I notice how close our faces are. "I finally got you." He says to me as he looks deeply into my eyes. He smiles at me and I smile back.
"You won, now let me go," I say to him with a grin.
"Okay," he says as he wraps his arms around my waist and holds me even closer to him.
"Hector I said to let me go not to hold me tighter!" I shout.
He laughs as he loosens his grip on me, "how about we play some games?"
Beaming up I link my arm with his, "then what are we doing here standing about. Let's get the biggest stuffed animals." I happily say. Chuckling we walk around the different booths until I spotted some huge neon teddy bears.
"Hector I found it!" I drag him towards the booth that had the neon green and pink bears. My eyes automatically go to the pink neon bear with a light green belly.
"In order to win the big prize you have to hit the bell." The game operator announced. Well, More like yelled but at least he was getting some attention.
"I want to try to win that bear," I say. Hector gives me a look. "If you want something you should at least fight for it—and I really want that bear," I say. Hector claps with a proud grin on his face.
