Waking up I felt hands run through my hair caressing me so gently. Smelling the familiar perfume I knew it was my mother. "Did Hector tell you?" I ask her as I slowly sit up.
"He didn't go in detail if that's what you're worried about." She informs me. "How are you feeling?"
"Horrible," I bitterly respond.
Rubbing her hand up and down my arm in a comforting way she gets up and says, "I'll go get you some tea,"
Getting up I walk towards my window seat to look outside. Why did Sebastian lead me on if he had a girlfriend? How can I be that stupid? I heard a soft knock on my door I turned my head towards the sound. "Hola mi corazón." My father softly says. I smile at him as he walks towards me. "My beautiful little girl. Don't cry over that stupid boy." He puts his hand on my right cheek and with his thumb, he wipes away a stray tear. I smile at him appreciating his kind words.
"I brought your tea sweetheart." My mother says. I got up to take the warm tea from her.
"Thank you, mom." I place the warm black mug on my nightstand and sigh deeply. "Can I be alone for a moment?" I ask them as I climb back into my bed.
My parents glance at each other with a concerned look. "Are you sure you're okay?" My dad asks.
I shrugged not really wanting to talk about it. And in reality, I really didn't know what I felt. I was in a mix of feelings. Sadness, anger, confusion, and other feelings I couldn't comprehend. "Okay, then we'll leave you alone sweetheart." My mom softly says as she kisses me gently on the forehead. My father kisses my cheek before closing the door behind him.
Once I was alone in my darkroom tears start flowing out of my eyes as I sob softly into my hands. If only I didn't believe in his honey-sweet words then I wouldn't be here sobbing my heart out. Why did he make my heart skip a beat each time he looked at me.
Suddenly I heard a soft knock on my door that catches my attention. Wiping away my tears I look at my door, "mom I told you I wanted to be alone!"
The door slowly opens to reveal a smiling Adolfo, "Sorry but I needed to come to see you."
"What do you want Adolfo?" I ask annoyed."I want to be left alone."
He walks over to me and sits on my bed, "But I have some news to light up your bitter day." He's up to something.
"Oh yeah like what?" I sarcastically say not believing he has good news.
Adolfo never has really good news.
"Well...I just got off from talking to Vicente and he needs someone to pick him up from the airport." He explains to me.
My ears perk up at the sound of that name. "Wait a minute, Vicente as in Vicente Perez from third grade?" I question not believing my own ears.
"Yes, so I need you to get dressed cause I want you to be there." He says with a sweet smile.
"I'm not in the mood to celebrate," I say as I look away. "Just go without me."
"No!" Adolfo says with a deep frown. "You need to come with!" He shouts as he holds both my arms.
We look at each other for a long time before I sob onto his shoulder. "I can't go out there."
"Are you really going to cry your heart out over a guy?" Adolfo asks me in disbelief.
Wiping away a tear I look at him, "I just found out my boyfriend has another girlfriend! Of course, I'm gonna cry!"
Adolfo stands up and grabs my shoulders once more, "this isn't the Serena I know. She'd never let a guy dictate how she's gonna spend her day."
"You wouldn't understand Adolfo," I say as I rip his hands off of me.
