"So, for sure, we are telling them today?" Hector asks through FaceTime. I roll my eyes as I sit down at my vanity.
"Yes, Hector It's been a whole week of us going out. Also, Diane nearly choked me out for the truth the other day. Look today is Saturday, and I know for sure no one has plans." I explain to him as I brush out my hair. "Our friends deserve to know, and also they are super nosey. They thrive off of chismes."
Hector sighs as he looks around him, "do your parents know about us?"
I put my brush down, "no, and they are not going to until I am ready to make this the real deal. They know that I'm not in a position to be in a relationship."
He laughs, "at least I know that your father approves of me."
Rolling my eyes, I tie half of my hair up. "I don't know what you did, but my dad is practically in love with you."
"What can I say? I'm a charmer." He jokes.
I fake a laugh, "okay, charmer, invite Dante over to lunch at the restaurant that imma text you."
"Yes, I know. What about Adolfo?" He asks.
"Adolfo is all over the place, so I have to figure out if he's available. Even if he's not, we are still going to go through with this." I explain to him.
Hector nods his head, "whatever you say. I gotta go, see you soon."
I blow him a kiss and end the call. Now to focus on getting this eyeliner to be symmetrical. Suddenly my phone rings, stopping me from finishing off the liner. I look to see who was trying to FaceTime me, and a picture of Adolfo was the first thing I see. "What does he want?" I mutter to myself. "Yes, Adolfo?" I ask as I answer.
"I need you, Serena!" He loudly says.
I roll my eyes, "why do you need me?" I say. I let my phone stand as I finish my makeup.
"My mom is trying to set me up!" He shouts. "Help me get out of this! I don't like the girl."
I start laughing hard that I had to stop doing my lipliner. He stares at me with a dead-serious look.
"Omg! You're not joking?" I ask him.
"No, Serena, I am not fucking joking. I need you to come and convince my mom to put a stop to this." He pleads.
"Why can't you tell Vicente to do this," I question as I apply my nude lipgloss.
He groans, "I would if I knew where the fuck he's at!"
I sigh in defeat, "okay fine,"
"I fucking love you, Serena. Te adoro mi amor!" He says before kissing his phone screen.
"Ew! Adolfo!" I shout in disgust.
"Thank you, Serena!" He smiles from ear to ear.
"You're welcome, but you need to get dressed since I'm taking you to lunch with the whole squad," I inform him. He nods before hanging up. At least I know that he's on board with going to lunch. Looking at myself in the mirror, I fix my black tube top and smooth over my ripped jeans. Knowing my father wouldn't agree with this outfit, I put on a jean jacket. Slipping into my black sneakers, I turn off my lights and walk downstairs.
Hugging my parents goodbye, I make my way over to the car. Looking at my phone, I see Marisol and Diane text me that they are on their way to the restaurant. Along with Hector's text saying Dante is on board.
My heart beats fast as I feel nervous. I know they will agree to us being together, but I can't help but feel jittery. Maybe Adolfo will take my mind off of this uneasy feeling.
