Chapter 26: Selfish

James' POV

My hands are shaking. Fvck this!

I looked at Nadine, damn. Her eyes are starting to get wet.

I starred at the picture again. So all this time, I was being so dumb? Someone is already making their own story about me and Nadine, and I didn't even noticed it?

Sht. I'm now hating myself.

This could've put Nadine and the twins life in danger.

You did great James! Real great!

"James.."

I heard Nadine sobs.

"Nadine please.. No. Don't cry."

It breaks my heart whenever she cries. I should be the one to shed those tears falling from her eyes. And I should be the one protecting her from danger.

"Pero James.."

She continued sobbing and crying, I hugged her tight. And that I could even feel her breathing at my neck, and water flowing at my back.

"Nadine, we can solve this. Okay?"

I patted her back, trying to comfort her, but she seems not affected at all, she just cried even more.

"Nadine please, stop crying, it's killing me."

She still doesn't stop, but instead cried harder. But I was shocked when she suddenly hug me.

"Don't cry and hug me as if you we're leaving. I don't like the feeling."

I felt a bit nervous, sadness, doubts, anger, all mixed up at the same time.

I don't know what to feel.

But, one thing's for sure. I didn't liked the way Nadine hugged and cried, it's like, she is up to something, that I really won't like.

"Nadine, tell me you'll never give up unto this."

I release myself from her arms. I looked at her face wet from her own tears, her red eyes.

She just starred at me like I didn't say a thing.

"Nadine, tell me you're not giving up on us! Please. We'll solve this. We'll talk about this. Just..."

A tear fell from my eye. Damn!

"don't leave me and give up."

I grabbed her hands and enveloped it with mine.

"Pero James, paano na ngayon? Sasabihin mo ba kay Caryl? Pag nagalit sila? Pano ka? Pano ako? Paano tayo?"

She sobs.

"We'll stand at each others side through thick and thin. I promise."

I kissed her hands gently.

Nadine's POV

Paano nga kaya kapag nalaman na nila ang totoo? Ang tungkol sa amin ni James? Kakayanin ko ba? Kakayanin ba ni James? Kakayanin ba namin?

Alam kong hindi lang ako ang mahihirapan kapag nangyari yon, parehas kami ni James.

Kanina pa ako palakad lakad dito sa loob ng bahay, hinihintay na bumalik si James galing sa meeting place nila ni Caryl.

*Flashback*

"I'll go there now and meet Caryl."

Saad ni James pero nakatitig lang ako sa kanya.

"And?"
