*ROC*

Everyone was hype when Thursday finally came! We had no more exams, and after school was the big end of the year game/pep rally! I hadn't seen Rain all day, not even at lunch and right after school ended she had dances to practice, and I had plays to run.

At the start of the game coach gave us a little pep talk.

"Ok guys! This is OUR territory, OUR land! DO NOT let them own you on your own field!"

"Sir, no sir." We all said to him.

Before the game started I drank some of the provided Gatorade and scanned over all the people watching. Where the heck was Rain!? I saw the dancers running towards the field from the parking lot, so they could see the game, but I saw Angie and not Rain. I tried not to freak, she was probably just in the bathroom...or in the bleachers and I just didn't see her.

"August! Get over here!" Coach ordered.

The game seemed to fly by and we beat the othe team by ten whole points! We posed for pictures of us with our huge gold trophy and I couldn't help but think about how good Rain would look standing next to it. My eyes scanned the crowds of people again, still not finding her. I ran to Angie when the dancers started walking to the field for their performance.

"Hey! Great game huh!? Ugh where is Rain in the bathroom or something!? Did she see the game!? Wasn't I great!?" I noticed her frowning and I slowed down. "Where is Rain?"

"Um..." She hesitated.

"Where is she at!?"

"Roc she's been in the hospital since last night."

"What!? Why? which one?"

"St.Carter's. Look I gotta go, I wasn't even supposed to tell you this much."

She ran onto the field and assumed position behind one of the other dancers. She didn't make eye contact with me and when their music started I took off. No time to ask my mom to get me, I needed to see Rain as soon as possible and I needed to run!

I turned corners, ran straight lines, and dodged pedestrians as I ran on and off of sidewalks. When the hospital came into sight I felt no relief and I didn't slow down, I needed to see HER! When I ran into the front desk of the lobby/office the lady behind it gave me a weird look.

"I'm sorry do you have a girl named Rain checked in here? that's R-A-I-N."

"I'm sorry and you are who?" She asked me.

"Her boyfriend."

"Sorry hun, I've been told directly that only family can see her."

I wanted to punch a wall! I needed to see my baby, why would they try and keep me away!? I sat in one of the lobby chairs and put my head down in my hands. My baby!

"Roc?"  Her mom asked.

I jumped to my feet. "Is she ok!?"

"She's fine, she's asleep."

"Can I see her?"

"She didn't want you to come."

"Please, I won't go in, I just need to SEE her. Please."

"Ok. It's ok hun he's with me." She told the lady behind the desk.

When we looked into Rain's room I saw a white bandage around her left arm and she had a bloody gauz on her forhead. There were bags under her eyes and she looked so...so broken. Seeing her just lay there with her chest moving slowly up and down as if each breath hurt worried me. I wanted to comfort and console her, why would she not tell me something had happened. What happened!?

"C'mon Roc. I'll take you home." Her mom said.

Home was the last place I wanted to be.
