Chapter 14

"Good. I wouldn't recommend calling her a bitch then." Chase said.

"Chase you know I don't let anyone know about this stuff. She just blew my cover. I didn't want the whole school to know she moved in with me." Jake said desperately trying to get him on his side.

"I know man, but I don't think it was her. I really don't think it was." Chase said.

"Why are you defending her?"

"Have you won yet?" Chase asked changing the subject to something I couldn't quite get my head around. Jessie said something about the football players playing a game and the guys keep on asking if Jake won yet. I just don't get it.

"No and I don't care if I win this stupid game anyways, it's just going to end up hurting someone."

"Total change of heart there. I knew you had a soft spot for her." He chuckles.

"What do you mean change of heart?"

"You went from calling her a bitch to basically saying you didn't want to hurt her. Dude you used to be the level headed one of us. You haven't exploded like that in forever. Just try not to lash out on her while you are figuring out your feelings." Chase said. Wait. They are talking about me. I'm not that stupid.

"Uh guys I'm right here and I'm not stupid." I said. What feelings for me? We haven't spent like any time together at all.

Before they could answer the rest of the group comes over and sits down minus Camden and Jess who have to work on some project together.

"So uh um uh Allie uh do y-you want to like uh maybe like hang o-out some uh time?" Wesley King asks me. He says it quietly while the rest of the guys are talking loudly. Why would he want to hang out with me? Maybe it has something to do with this game.

"Oh yeah sure, sounds cool." I say. I have definitely gotten more confident with speaking since making friends.

"Cool does uh Thursday work?"

"Sure sounds good." As soon as I finish talking Jason has to interrupt our conversation. Not complaining because I could feel my conversation with Wes was going to get awkward quick.

"So Allie don't let Jake get the upper hand on you." Jason says.

"Okay is this about that stupid game? What the heck is it? I know I play a part in it."

"You haven't figured it out?" Jase asks in disbelief.

"Uh no?"

"The Varsity team is playing a game to see who could bang you first or get you to fall for them first. Some bets were placed." Some kid abound my age on the JV team says. That earned him a death glare from the boys near me and Hunter to get up and punch him.

"Thanks uh.." I talk to the kid.

"Mason." He tells me.

"Thanks Mason." I smiled.

Oh so that's why Wes just asked me to hang out with him and people keep asking if Jake has won. "You think Jake 'banged' me last night. Well guess what whoever placed a bet whoever is going to lose because I'm not giving in." I said to everyone else.
