Chapter 31: Blessings

"Natsu." Uncle Jude said "I suppose you already know the truth." I nodded as a response.

"I know a mere apologize won't do but let me just say I'm sorry for what I have done. I only want a great future for my daughter." He said and tears falls down from his eyes. This is the first time I see him cry. He wipes his tears up.

"I am not asking you to forgive me. I know what I've done wrong. It was a big mistake that I separated you both. I guess my hunch is right from the start. The first time I saw you, I already felt something different about you. And I really think you are fitted to my daughter. But just after I discovered that you are the son of Igneel, I can't help but to start thinking of the past again. I lost myself of what's important-"

"I know!" I cut him. "I know, I lost sight of what's important too. It's to follow your own heart, your own will, your own desire. I didn't follow any of it because I follow my mind. It follows the things you have said to me. If I follow my heart from the start and start thinking things more clearly before having a big decision, it may have not turn into this. If I just have the courage to fight for our love even though I know I can't give her the things she have until now, maybe things will turn out better than I imagined. Thank you Uncle Jude because if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be what I am now. I will take your action as a blessing instead of hindrance. Thank you for everything until now." I said the things that I didn't even thought of since we left Japan.

"Natsu."

"Uncle Jude if you may, can I take your daughter's hand? Can I marry your Princess?" I asked

"Let's forget about the past shall we? Because I don't have any energy to argue with that." He said with a smile. I look at him with full of happiness.

"Is that..."

"Yes, I'll give you my blessing to take my daughter's hand, Natsu. I entrust her to you, I know you can take care of her as much as I do." Uncle Jude said

"Thank you very much sir. I will not disappoint you. I will love and care for Lucy for eternity."

"Hahahaha that's not like you."

We already left the hospital because it is time for his check-up. We will be just back again. On our way to hotel, because we plan to stay here for one more day, I asked Ashley out for a coffee.

"I want to ask for your blessing Ashley." I said and she spits out the coffee from her mouth

"W-W-What did you say? My blessing?!" she repeated

"Yeah. I want to marry Lucy." I said clearly

"It's about time you said that!" She said and stood up

"I give you my full support! We're best buds remember!" She grins at me and rests her arm on my shoulders and drags me out the coffee shop

"Hey where are we going?" I asked

"Where else? To the venue of proposal of course!" she said

"Eh?! Now?!"

"Of course! Let's not waste time here!" she said

Lucy's POV

Loke and I already arrived at the hotel but we both wait for them at the lobby. It's already dark outside and they are still not here. Where those two have gone?

Earlier when I talk to Papa about what happened to us this past 6 years, I can't bring myself to get angry at him in his state. I don't know why is it so easy to forgive him for all that pain that he caused me.

"I won't bother you two anymore, I'm going to die anyway." He said

"Don't say such thing! I know you will make this through." I said

"When are you and Natsu going to marry? I want it as soon as possible. I want to be in your wedding Lucy." He said that surprised Ashley and I

"What are you talking about Papa? He didn't even propose to me. We just get together again. I don't think he will even ask me now." I said in head down

"I know he will." He said

Even though he said that, I don't think Natsu will rush things out. I don't even know if we are officially together again. I make a huge sigh.

"Loke I think it's time for us to go to our rooms. I don't think they will be back at this hour. I bet those two are drinking somewhere else by now."

"Are you sure you don't want to wait for them?"

"They're not kids anymore, don't worry about them."

"Okay."

Natsu's POV

"No, I am the one who asked about it first." I said to Ashley. She asked if Uncle Jude was the one who suggested about the marriage

"Is that so. Well I think your timing is great Natsu." She said

"Where are we by the way?" I asked

"Don't peek." She said. I'm in a blind fold now and she is holding my shoulders and pushing me somewhere else and I think I already have a clue where we are going.

"Hey are you planning a prank on me? We're not kids alright?" I said

"Who said about putting up a prank? I told you we are going in your venue!" she said and took off the blind fold

"Just as I thought, we are in Paris so you'll take me to the Eiffel Tower." I said emotionless, but I really feel grateful that Ashley is helping me up again

"Do you have a problem with that? This is a great place to do some proposal Natsu! You see, Loke already proposed to me here. See." She said and shows her ring to me.

"Whoah! I didn't know. Congratulations by the way." I said

"Ahh...Even though I don't feel it romantic to me because he just..." Ashley started to tell me what happened during Loke's proposal

"Ashley please, before we go I want to visit the Eiffel Tower." Loke beg

"Alright! Since you won't stop bothering me we will go now." I said

When we got at the tower, we sight see first, until he kneel down in front of me.

"Ashley, I know this isn't the right time and this is not as special as I want it to be but please here me. Ashley Heartfilia will you marry me?" he said. I don't know what I will feel that day because I am happy that he asked me but I am still furious of hearing the truth from my father. So I immediately said "Yes. Now stand up and let's go home." I said

"That was mean Ashley. You shouldn't have done that. I feel sorry for Loke." I said

"What was that?! I came back and forth from Japan to Paris just to patch things up and you will tell me that I'm mean?" she scolded me like a kid.

"I'm sorry." I said.

"I appreciate it Ashley. Thank you. I just don't want to act all excited because I don't want the people here to think we're a couple." I said awkwardly

"Ahhahaha....you got a point...Now let's go home." She said awkwardly too. I just see her shivers in front of me.

"What's the meaning of that shivering?" I asked

"Nothing!"
