"Look I'm sorry about last night."
"Oh," I snapped, I had no idea why I was so angry but he thinks he can just say sorry after last night, " For which part? The part where you assumed I left to go have a perfect life. Or maybe the part where you blamed me for my mother’s death? No wait, what about the part where you thought I was shallow enough to leave because I didn't want face it anymore?"
He sat there, his head hung. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said anything. I didn't even know the story."
"Oh you want to know the story?!" I growled. "I made a joke and she laughed at it. She looked back and a drunk driver ran into us. After my dad moved us a year later because he couldn't handle it. Then he realized it wasn't the place he couldn't handle it was me because I looked too much like her. So every night he assaulted me, told me it was all my fault and even tried to kill me once. Then a week ago he got caught and they took him away and Jenny was the closest thing I had to family. And I arrive here and have you accuse me of killing my mum when I was freaking 4. So now you know the story of my perfect life I ran off too when I 'couldn't handle it anymore'. You happy?" I yelled. Before he could answer I stormed down the beach.
JESSE'S POV
"You happy?" someone yelled from the beach. I looked up to see Taylor running away from Steven. She looked pissed. What the hell did he do? We came here to have some fun and make her forget things and he has to go get her upset. I jog up to where he's sitting. He looked shocked and maybe a little pained.
"What the hell did you say to her?" I spat.
He thought for a second. "Nothing," he mumbled.
"Well it sure doesn't look like nothing," he can't seriously think I believe she just made herself angry.
I started to walk after her to give her a bit of space before she saw me.
"I think she wants to be left alone," I heard Steven say behind me. I whipped my head around, "And when the hell did you start to give a shit about what she wanted?" I asked, before walking after her.
TAYLOR'S POV
I run down the beach until I can't see anyone I know. I flop down staring angrily out at the waves. What the hell gave him the right to ruin my day?
"You know," a deep voice said behind me, "if you keep looking like that the wind might change."
I turn around to see a guy my age standing over me. He had light brown tousled hair with deep brown eyes. He had nicely tanned skin with killer abbs. He sat down next to me and held out his hand, "I'm Adam," I reached my hand out and said," Taylor."
"Are you around here or have you just never been to the beach?" he asked with a smile.
"No I moved back here yesterday. I haven't been here since I was five."
"That would explain why I don't recognized you. I'm sure you looked a bit different when you were five, uh"
I laughed, "yeah a little." We sat there in silence.
"So I'm assuming you're starting school tomorrow?" he said. I hadn't even thought about school.
"oh yeah, I probably am." I said shrugging.
"You forgot, didn’t you," he said laughing.
"How did you know?" I said playfully punching him. I laughed along with him.
"You were so shocked when I asked like I had just announced the fish and chip place down the road is shutting down."
"It isn't," I gasped.
He laughed, "No it's not." he laughed harder. I remember that fish and chip store. It's called 'McChipery' and I remember going there as a kid. The fish and chips there are to die for. Amazing. 'Monta Belle' I think they say in Italian.
"Do you wanna go and get some?" he asked eagerly.
"Hell Yeah!" I cheered.
He jumped up and held his hand to help me up. I took it and got up next to him.
"I'll just go get my wallet. Stay here." he ran up the beach. I sat back down to wait and fiddled with the sand. "There you are," I heard a familiar voice say.
"I've been walking for ages," Jesse said, "how far did you run?" he plonked down next to me.
"Not too far," I mumbled my good mood deflating.
He fell silent for a minute before saying," look I'm sorry for whatever Steven said to you. Please come back," he pleaded.
"Why are you saying sorry? You didn't say it." I sighed and looked down.
"Why don't you come back down with us? You can ignore Steven and have some fun with the rest of us. Mums even in the water now and Wes misses you."
"Hey Taylor," Adam called from the top of the beach. He motioned for me to come with him.
"I'll come down later. I’m sorry, I just need some space." I apologized, "Can you tell Jenny that I've gone to McChipery? I'm sorry Jesse," I leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. I got up but Jesse pulled me back down, "Who's that?"
"He's names Adam and we are going to McChipery." A dark expression crossed his features.
"I don't think..." he said but was interrupted by Adam yelling, "Come on Taylor."
"I'm sorry Jesse, Tell me later." I ran up to Adam and we headed to the fish and chip shop.
