Chapter 30
We got our plane tickets, and when we did it was hectic. The guys were arguing and as Talia and I were trying to stop them, we somehow ended up in the fight. I don't know how or why because they were arguing about some petty reason. I forget why... Oh yeah, maybe because they fought about the best freaking way to buy a ticket like seriously? We were at the entrance of the airport when I heard a loud sound rumble across the sky. Nerves ran through my body with excitement. Meeting my parents were just a step closer than we were before. I, happily, took a cookie from my bag and munched on the sweet pastry or desert? Wait. What category does cookies go under? Is it just sweets? Weird. "You ok?" A voice called out and I snapped out of my gaze. I blinked a few times and looked at Crash who had a confused look cross over his expression.
"Yeah," I replied, a chirpy tone took over my voice. I don't know why, maybe the sugars in this is causing me to become a little hyper. He cocked an eyebrow at me and I shrugged. "Let's go!" I I skipped into the airport. I saw Dallas and Crash shake their heads before heading in with me. Talia followed, closely, behind.
As we entered, I watched as the place swarmed with people. There were business people, talking on their phones and little kids with their parents as they dragged them along. The was the occasional cry here and there. The lights were bright as we went through the check in system. "Ugh, this is always the fun part," Dallas mumbled in sarcasm. I saw Crash nod, slightly as dread covered his facial features.
"Oh come on guys, lighten up," I grinned. Why was I excited? Other than the possibility of meeting my parents, I don't know. Something about sugar just made me hyper. I was light on my feet as we walked through the thick lines of people wanted to get through. Scowls pressed into their faces.
Thirty minutes later, we finally got through but this time I wasn't happy. At this point, I had enough pushing and shoving to move forward. Just like the other people, a scowl was painted on my face as the others had a look of annoyance. "Departure of flight 82 in five minutes," the intercom went off. We weaved through the people to get to our board area. We managed to find it after a few minutes and we went through the security. He scanned us in and we passed through him. I was tired and hungry, I should have eaten something. I sigh as I sagged towards our seats and everyone stayed quiet. The plane emitted a light humming sound and beeps came from everywhere.
"Hello passengers, I'm your pilot today. My name is Erik. We will take off shortly. Meanwhile, please watch the video on your screen and enjoy you're flight," Erik said through the intercom. My eyes blurred every now and then from my tiredness. I looked over to Dallas, Crash, and Talia and saw they all were already strapped in and sleeping. They were definitely tired. I sighed as I felt the plane start to move and I looked out into the window. Soon, I fell asleep.
I felt a jolt and I groaned. My eyes started to open in confusion. It was dark and the plane was cold. I shivered when I saw Dallas playing on his phone. I saw him peek over and he chuckled. He shook his head and bent down. What is he doing? He pulled something out and handed it to me. I looked at him, wondering what he gave me. "Take it, it should keep you warm," he said and I, skeptically, took it from him.
"Thanks," I muttered. I put the sweater on and let it engulf me. I sigh as I say back into my seat. I felt eyes on me and my head snapped over to Dallas but his eyes weren't on me anymore. My head turned towards Crash and saw his unfaltering gaze settled on me. They were narrowed and jealous? Of what? His sister slept by him, soundly. He looked away, finally but what bothered me the most was that stare. I bit my lip as I looked out into the window and saw darkness. If you squinted enough, you could make out the little rifts the water created. I guess I was lulled back to sleep because the next thing I knew was that my heavy eyes shut.
Everything seemed wrong. I felt dirty and hurt. Mom and dad seemed no where to be found. I cried nonstop for help. There was no help what so ever. Beside me was a girl. She had brown hair and freckles that dotted her face. She seemed fine though. Although she might have been in pain. When did she get here? Where's mom and dad? I laid on the cool surface, strapped down. I don't remember and I look at the door as a blurry face comes walking my in. I can't see who it was but I could make out the figure and their features. Long blonde hair, prominent nose, and something oddly striking about her vibrant eyes but what was it? I couldn't see the color, yet I could tell it was an unnatural color.
"Hello, Adeline. Shall we begin?" The voice asked and I felt myself want to hurl. That voice was way too sweet and way too familiar. All I knew is the voice to who it belonged to.
