Chapter 10
She hasn't come back yet. It's been a day. Maybe I should have gone after her. I hesitated and now she left somewhere. I sigh in frustration. I dragged myself to the bathroom because I was tired. As I got ready for bed, I heard a door open and slam close. "Evie?" I called out but she didn't answer. I turned the sink off and opened the door of the bathroom. Please be Evie. Please be Evie. I chanted the words over and over. My heart raced at the thought someone else being in our room. I shut the bathroom door and looked at our room. Evie laid there, passed out. I breathed a sigh of relief as I fell into my soft bed. It went dark.

Someone was shaking me. I grumble and swat the person away. "Seriously, if you don't wake up, I'm going to leave you," the voice became clear."Go away," I mumbled as I rolled over.
"Gross, your breath stinks," the girl said. It was Evie.
"Then, go away before I breathe a breath of morning breath on you," I grumble. She still shook me.
"Well, you're going to be late," Evie said. My eyes went wide as I shot out of bed. "That's what I thought," Evie mumbled in frustration. I slipped on my uniform, brushed my hair out, and tied it up.
"Ready?" I asked, cheerily. Evie looked at me with wide eyes. "What do I have slobber on my face?" I asked, puzzled. I tried wiping my face but Evie shook her head.
"No, I'm just wondering why and how you're so chirpy about school," she said with a perplexed look. I shrugged my shoulders as i opened the door to leave.
"I just am happy that I get to go to a University," I said. I walked as Evie walked faster, trying to get ahead.
"What ever weirdo," she mumbled.
"Hey!" I said as I took it as an insult. She looked back with an eyebrow raised and shrugged. I frowned and looked down. We walked out to the horrible heat and sweat went down my face. I jogged up to her.
"Are you ready for the score test?" She asked in curiosity. I bit my lip and looked at her. I shook my head, very slowly. She sighed and shook her head. We stood in front of a tall building and my stomach flipped, in nervousness. She patted my back as she walked in the building. Wow, she wasn't kidding when she said she wasn't good at comforting people. I sucked in a breath and walked in. Cold air brushed past me as I walked in. I shivered due to the drastic change in the coolness. Beeps went off everywhere as I looked around. Testing stations were everywhere. Projective targets were everywhere. A lady came up to me and smiled.
"Hello, I'm Alisen and I assume you are here to test?" She asked and I nodded. She smiled even more making it seem even more fake than it was before. "This way, we will start wit the bow and arrow," she said. I saw the easy target but I picked up the bow. I purposely gripped the bow wrong and shook as I shot. I arrow swerved in different places and fell limp right in front of us. The lady sucked in a breath and tilted her head. "Ok... Let's move on," she said. We walked over to the throwing daggers. She handed me a dagger. It was thin and sleek in my hands. I gripped the cool metal as I positioned myself to miss. I threw the knife into the ceiling and the lady looked at me in disbelief.
"How many more?" I asked, curiously. She stayed quiet and cleared her throat. She led me over to the weighs. I picked the smallest one up and lifted once. "I'm tired," I said, pretending to give up. She nodded and led me over to the punching bags. I positioned myself in the wrong position and I tapped the dirty bag. She let out a sigh and walked towards the computer. I followed her, making it seem as if I didn't know what my score would be like.
"You are Rank FF, the lowest of the low," she said as everyone went quiet. Maybe I should have tried more. The room burst into whispers. I was getting irritated. They were talking about me like I wasn't there. My hands clenched. I need to calm down. I took a deep breath and I the chatter didn't settle down. I took a step forward and Evie stood there.
"Is that why you can't reveal your score?" She whispered. I shook my head. "Why than?" She questioned and I hid a dagger in my pocket as I pointed out side to her. She nodded. I walked out the building. I waited for her as Chase came by.
"So, lowest score of all time huh?" Chase asked with a teasing smirk. I ignored him and just waited. "So what if I do this?" He asks and I looked at him in confusion. I looked at his hand and my eyes widened. He threw the dagger and I ducked. He clapped and I looked at him as if he was crazy.
"What the hell is wrong with you? Are you crazy?" I shouted. He shrugged and walked towards me.
"So are you going to explain why you purposely failed the score test?" He asked and I flinched. How?
"You gonna explain why you tricked me that day? Your punishment? Ha, fool me," I snapped back. He flinched and rushed towards me. I backed away. He was quick but I was quicker. I dodged him only to realize everyone surrounded us. Surprise was the only thing evident in their expressions. I was frozen in place and before everyone could react, I flipped over them and ran. I saw the practice gym. I ran into it and it was empty. I sighed and I started warming up to get my mind off what happened. The door creaked open and I twirled around and threw my dagger. I purposely missed the person. Evie stood there in shock.
"So, I came here to clear some things up and you try to kill me?" She asked. I sighed as I scratched my head. She picked the dagger up and threw it to me. I caught the dagger with ease. "Explain," that was all she said when she sat down. I sat down along with her.
"My score in unbelievably high. Higher than anyone in this whole world. They execute the people if they have too high of a score. She looked at me with wide eyes.
"So you have to hide it with getting the lowest score possible? You do know that's the worst idea possible? It just draws more attention to you," she said said with disbelief. I groaned and rubbed my face.
"I know," I said, frustrated. I did something stupid.
"So, what are you going to do?" Evie asked. I took in a deep breath.
"I'm not sure," I let out a laugh and a defeated sigh.
