Chapter 9
I clench my eyes as a distant pound sound started happening.  It was annoying. I groaned as I opened my eyes to a blurry ceiling. I grumble and I, lazily, drag myself towards the door. I open the door as I scratch my head. Crash stood there smirking.

"Well, that's attractive," he teased. I sighed and glared at him.

"Whatever. What do you want Crash?" I mumbled, not in the mood for any of this. I jumped onto my bed as he walked in. Evie sat up, in confusion, on her bed. Crash threw a bag on top of my back.

"Why the hell are you guys so freaking loud?" Evie asked, irritated. She gave us the deadliest glare.

"I just remembered that you slept like a pig and don't like waking up," Crash said. I looked at him only to see his face back to being emotionless.

"Well at least I don't take up all the room and sleep like a friggin whale," Evie mocked. I rolled my eyes at their childishness.

"You guys act like an old couple," I mumbled in my sheets. I can feel their gazes turn to me. Crash sighs as he walks out. I shrugged at his actions. I threw the bag off me and snuggled back in bed.

"That was not nice," Evie said as she shuffled back into her covers.

"Just saying the truth," I yawned. She sighed as she turned over, in her bed. I started thinking about random things like, what is it like to have a normal family. Of course a normal family is never normal. Or what it's like if my parents were there and not having that note as a substitute. The note... I rolled to my side to look for the bag that I, surprisingly, didn't trip over. I looked over to the empty space by my bed. It was gone. I looked around and under my bed, frantically. Nothing. My heart pounded like it was going into overdrive. I looked for that blue bag that seemed to be no where.

"What are you doing?" Evie called out, irritatingly. I heard her sit up.

"I lost something," I said, quickly as I ran out of breath.

"Lost what?" Evie asked as I turned my head over to her. Her eyes were narrowed into thin slits.

"The blue bag I had yesterday," I said, scared and worried to death. She looked at me for a second longer.

"I thought you just found it on the floor," Evie said, yawning.

"I did but I just didn't tell you everything," I blurted out and covered my mouth. Her eyes went back to normal.

"I knew it," she whispered. I looked at her with wide eyes as she threw me the bag. I let out a relieved sigh before worrying again.

"D-did you read it?" I stuttered. She shook her head as her arms crossed.

"I may be an ass but I'm not a bitch to go through people's private shit," she said as if she didn't care. "Now tell me, what's with that bag?" Evie asked. She cared?

"You want to know?" I asked, surprised at what she said. She nodded. I blew out a big breath and looked at her. "You can't tell anyone ok?" I said.

"Yep!" She said as she smiled. She had a really pretty smile. I wonder what makes her frown all the time. I looked at her, curiously. I tilted my head to the side as I stared at her. "What? Just get to the story," she snapped. I closed my eyes as I took a deep breath to get ready to tell her.

"When I was little, my parents attended this party and things led to another and they were gone. They ran away leaving me. They told me one thing. Keep my score a secret. The Guards led many investigations to find my parents. It's been 10 years since I've been left alone to fend for myself. I lived in this broken apartment that I could barely pay rent for. The letter was them writing to me," I said in one go. Evie's eyes went wide.

"Shit that was a lot to go to. I didn't go through half as much and I messed up. Why do you have to keep your score a secret?" Evie asked.

"It's too high. Higher than it should be," I explain and she nods. "So what happened to you?" I asked. Her eyes shut and she finally opened them, only to look somewhere else.

"My parents only care about their position of Guards. They only work and I never see them. When I do, they leave right after. They paid no attention to what I did, what so ever. At that time, I was bullied constantly," she took in a deep breath. I close my eyes and opened them only to see a pained look on her face.

"I'm sorry," I said but it came out as a whisper. She shook her head.

"So what does that letter say?" She said pointing at the bag in my lap. It rested there, awkwardly. I picked it up and handed it to her she pulled out the picture and envelope. Her eyes widened at the picture.

"They are your parents?" She asked in disbelief. I, slowly, nodded. She turned quiet and I looked at her in curiosity and concern.

"Guess we both have unconcerned parents because," she stopped for a moment and took a deep breath. It was as if it was hard for her to say it. Her eyebrows were curved in as if she is trying to wrap her head around it. She looks away and gives back the bag, after putting everything back into it. "Never mind," she whispered and she shoved the bag onto my lap. She got up, suddenly, and walked to the door. "I-I need some air," her voice cracked as she stormed out. What just happened? I was confused. I looked at the door in shock. What the hell just happened? It repeated in my head until it hurt. I tried to think of possible outcomes but nothing came to mind. What was she going to say?
