Chapter 28
The sun was starting to go down as we looked around for his. The streets were crowded and was filled with people rushing home. Dallas and I kept getting separated but we kept on track. "Hey, hold my hand," Dallas ordered. I looked at him in confusion and like he was an alien. What? He wanted to hold my hand."What? Come again," I asked and honks came here or there. He rolled his eyes and gave me a state that said 'really?'
"I said hold my hand because we will get separated if we don't," he explained. I made an expression of understanding and held out my hand. He took it. His hands were rough but they over lapped my hand. They weren't cold but they held warmth and I liked it. I bit my lip and, slowly, closed my hands in his.
We were searching for a while and it was dark. The wind came in gusts of air. I gave an involuntary shiver to it. Dallas looked at me and he looked at his shirt. He sighed as he brought me into a hug. Out of surprise, I let out a little squeal. He gave me a chuckle. We walked towards the store as my stomach started to grumble in hunger. I held onto him, trying to get as much warmth as I could from him. "What do you want to eat?" He asked. I shrugged, thinking for a food.
"Cookies!" I grinned like a little kid. I looked up at him and he was looking down, cocking an eyebrow.
"Really? You need to eat actual food," he said with a parent voice. I grinned even more and shook my head. "That's starting to get creepy, blue," he pointed out. I kept on the grin just to annoy him and he only shook his head. I saw someone come in. He had a similar face like... Wait it is him but he's not alone. He was with a girl his age I want to say. I felt a stab. She had beautiful black hair that fell in waves and bright blue eyes. She grinned as she clutched onto Crash and he was grinning too.
"Crash is here," I said to Dallas, in a whisper. I let go of him as Dallas turned around. His face twisted into anger as his face turned red. What?
"He wanted a day so he can spend it with a girl?" He asked. I shrugged and that's about me when Crash saw us there. Crash started walking towards us.
"Hey guys, I didn't know you guys would be here," he said, awkwardly. He rubbed the back of his neck, just as the girl poked her head out by Crash. "Talia come here," he pointed to his side and she scurried over as she hung her head.
"What the fuck man, you delayed a day just to be with you girlfriend?" Dallas asked with some pressure. " cause if you are, Aralynn and I are going to leave," Dallas said, harshly. His face showed little to no emotion at all like the beginning of the school year.
"No, that's not it. She's my little sister and she has to come with us. Please," Crash said. I don't know why but a sigh came out my mouth. I saw Dallas look at him in surprise.
"Why are you asking us? It's not like we're going into war," Dallas said in frustration. I shivered again because we came to the cold section. Dallas sighed, once more and brought me to his side. Crash looked back and then his face twisted into something.
"What the hell are you guys doing?" Crash asked, in confusion. His sister held onto him and kept quiet.
"She was cold and I forgot my jacket so I'm letting her hug me. Chill dude," Dallas said. I shook my head at their bickering. They're doing it again.
"Seriously guys? Again? Do we have to do this again?" I asked in frustration. That's when they bit their lips and apologized. Talia looked up, in surprise before she went and whispered something in Crash's ear. He looked at her in surprise.
"No, that's wrong Talia. Get that out of your head," Crash pointed at her. She let a big grin out and shook her head, wildly. "Talia..." Crash said. Talia only grinned and stuck a tongue out. He sighed and shook his head.
We walked out into the dark night. I looked up to the sky to see a clear, velvety black sky that had a few spots of stars in it. The moon light gave off a silvery glow as the lamp lights illuminated the paved streets. My head ran wildly, knowing food and oh god COOKIES were coming soon.
We walked towards a house and it was giant. It was pretty. Two cars were in the driveway and Crash's eyes widened. "Hold up guys. I need to take care of something before you guys go in. Talia, wait here too," Crash rushed. Talia looked frightened as she kept staring at the cars. It was like she was frozen into place.
"Talia?" I called out. She turned around, slowly. Her eyes glistened with water and I realized she was about to cry. "Shit," I muttered. I walked up to her but she only backed up. "Hey, what's wrong?" I cooed. She sobbed as I stayed in place. That's when we heard it. Screaming and lots of it. I looked back at Dallas but his eyes were wide. He motioned us towards him. I caught up with Talia and I heard the door slam. Two figures came out and I pulled Talia with me. I had an instinct that we should hide. We ran towards a wall and hid behind it. Dallas held onto my hip to stop me from slipping. I heard the car turn on and we stayed quiet. We heard the car pull out and speed away. So that was Crash's parents?
