Chapter 18
Crash stood there but he was walking. Did he send the bouquet? I looked around for a person  but no one was there. The trees rustled from the wind as it swayed Crash's hair back and forth. His hands were stuffed in his pocket as he looked at the darkened sky. I guess he heard me because he turned around. Surprise and then a blank stare came through his emotions. "You sent that?" I asked, meekly, because I was hurt. He'd go that far, for what?

"Sent what?" He asked, now confusion etched his face. I looked for signs that he wasn't lying and my face contorted.

"Sent that bouquet," I stated in a dead, flat tone. His eyebrows furrowed.

"I sent you a bouquet?" He asked. I shrugged and crossed my arms.

"You tell me," I said and he sighed.

"I'm pretty sure I didn't. I would know if I did," he crossed his arm. I sagged in defeat. Questions filtered my mind.

"Why are you here than?" I whispered more to myself than him. His eyebrow cocked up, seeming as he thought the question was directed at him.

"Because I needed some air and I came out here?" He said as if it wasn't obvious. I sighed and shook my head.

"I'm sorry, it seems that stress has gotten to my head. I'm just going to go back and rest," I apologized and turned on my heel to walk away. A hand grabbed my arm and I swirled around. He pulled me towards him and I hit his chest. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"Wait, you're here already. Can we go up to the cliff?" He asked and I sighed.

"Yeah, I guess. What are you doing though?" I asked and he let go of me and cleared his throat.

"Well let's go than," he said and his face went blank. Why does he always do that? I followed his movements as we headed for the cliff. He looked back to see if I was following him. As we got there, he went up first and pulled me up. When I reached the top I laid down beside him and played with the ribbon I tied on my wrist. I have been wearing it since I've gotten it. Somehow it matches uniform. Crash fidgeted around and he looked like something was bothering him.

"Crash? Are you ok?" I asked, concerned. He looked at me like he was about to say something but he looked away. "Crash, seriously. If you need to ask something ask," I groaned. He looked at me as if I were fragile glass and then he sighed. Really?

"Why were you sent a bouquet?" He asked. This time I looked away and focused on the sky. I focused on the brightest star. The one that seemed brightens to me was the the dim one.

"Do you see that dim star?" I pointed it out and he looked. He nodded and I looked at him. "That's my favorite," I smiled. He looked at me like I was crazy.

"Why? It's so... Dull," he said. I laughed at his remark, it was how I reacted back then too.

"That's what you think but that star," I said pointing at it once more. "It shines brighter than all the others. When I was younger, my parents and I used to come out into a clearing and look at the stars. My dad asked which star I liked. I picked the brightest one out there." I laughed as I continued. "I asked my dad which one he liked best and he told me that he liked the dull ones. Trying to figure out why he liked the dull one when it wasn't so pretty, I asked him. He said even though it doesn't look pretty, it's beautiful because it is able to shine from a distance where people will be able to see it even though the other shine brighter, they are closer than that one star," I stated. His gave darkened as he watched me in silence. I looked at him and he looked away.

"I'm sorry about your parents," he whispered and I shook my head. I didn't want anyone to feel bad. My parents are long gone. Long gone... My eyes widened and I looked at the ribbons.

"Crash," I called out and he liked towards me. "Can you shine this light on the ribbon as I look at it?" I continued as I asked him for a favor. He nodded and pointed the light towards the ribbon. The designs on the ribbon wasn't designs... They were characters of another language!

"What did you find out?" Crash asked with his eyebrows furrowed. I looked up at him in happiness.

"I think I found my parents," I laughed and his eyes widened. I took the ribbon off my wrist and shoved it into his hands to see. He handed me the light and I shone the light onto the ribbon. He inspected it and looked up at me.

"You might be right but what language is this?" He asked. I shrugged, to happy to care. I got up and dusted off my pants. He got up too and we walked back. That's when I got an irritating feeling. It was like someone was watching me. I looked out into the dark, black forest but saw nothing.

"Do you feel that?" I asked and he liked at me, curiously.

"Feel what?" He asked.

"Like some- you know what it might be my imagination," I scratched my head and walked forward. He stayed quiet after that. Something was wrong with him. We said goodbyes and I mentally made plans to go to the library to find out what language this was. I got into my dorm and Evie sat up.

"Geez, what's got you in 'rainbows and unicorns' mood tonight?" Evie asked. I smiled and hopped onto my bed.

"I think I may have found my mom and dad!" I cheered. For some reason, Evie's eyes went big and then she mumbled something. My eyebrows furrowed because I couldn't hear what she said.

"I'm going to bed, night," Evie grumbled and she turned around. She cuddled I her bed and left me staring at her. That was odd. Usually she would smile and help but tonight she seemed... off. I shrugged it off. It probably wasn't anything. I laid the ribbon down on the nightstand and went to sleep.
