Chapter 14
"Ok class! You're dismissed. Don't forget your homework," Ms. Crankfield called out. I don't remember the lesson at all. I should have listened... Everyone shoved the door open and a burst of warm air blew past our faces. The trees were still due to the lack of air we have. I sighed as I rushed towards my next class.

"So can you explain what happened during class today?" Mrs. Dally stood there, in expectations. I ran a hand through my hair and sighed.

"I was lucky," I lied. I knew I couldn't let the teacher know, now I cleared my head. She laughed as I tried to keep on a straight face but it started to twist into a scowl.

"That's funny kid. That's no ordinary go lucky skill you did today," she pointed out. Damn caught. I shook my head and offered her the sweetest smile.

"But I'm not ly-" I said but she cut me off by trying to hit me. Out of instinct, I dodged.

"You're lying," she said with an all knowing face. Shit. I was stupid and let my guard down. I mumbled incoherent words. "Explain or I will take matter straight to the head and she will deal with you. Trust me when I say this, she does not let excuses stop her from expelling you," Mrs. Dally warned. That's good right? No, it can't be because of the head finds out, I'll have to retest and they'll find out my actual score and who knows what will happen. What if I alter it again but then my instincts will come in during a fight... This will happen all over again. What do I do? I let out a sigh of frustration. If only I had not done what I did this morning... It's too late now. I looked at her and she looked at me as if I'll spill.

"I can't... Because of personal reasons but can I stay?" I asked her. She looked at me with narrowed eyes but than sighed.

"On request in return," she demanded and I nodded my head, eagerly. "Instead of being a student, you will help me aid the beginners," she said.

"Deal," I grinned and she looked away, shaking her head. She mumbled something along the lines of 'If we get caught, I'd be fired and who knows what'll happen to the student'. I smiled and said," Don't worry, we won't be caught!" She looked at me, cocking an eyebrow. A loud squealing noise emitted from the speakers of the buildings. I covered my ears as Mrs. Dally waited for something. I looked at her in confusion. "Wha-," I was about to question her but she held a finger up to her mouth and shushed me.

"Aralynn Cadwell, please report to the office," the head said and it went silent. I looked at Mrs. Dally but her face went pale. She was worried for her job.

"Don't worry, I won't say anything about you knowing that my score is higher than what is recorded right now," I reassured her. She breathed a sigh of relief as color started to return back to how it was before.

"Thank you," she whispered. I nodded and walked towards the headmistress' office.

I was in front of the door. I took a giant breath as I reached for the gold knob. I opened the door as it created a big creaking noise. The headmistress was looking down but her head snapped up as the door was opened. She smiled as she rested her arms on her polished wooden desk. "You needed me?" I asked, in a meek voice.

"Ahh, yes," she replied. I looked at her too keep going. She signaled me to sit down in a red padded seat. This is not good... My heart thumped, wildly. The door creaked open, once more as I sat in the seat. Crash walked in with a stood face. He told her about my score didn't he... Or maybe someone else. My head ran through many ways I could have happened but I couldn't come to a conclusion. Before I could think of something else, she pushed a letter in front of me. Surprise flickered through me. That envelope is the same as in my room. It can't be it... The only one who knew about it was Evie. She wouldn't do something like that though. "Read it and than I would like to discuss," she said. Nerves racked up in my body. I picked up the letter with my shaky hands. I opened the envelope and slipped out the paper. No, this one was different from the first. I let out a shaky breath of relief.

Dear my sweet Aralynn,
Although it's not time yet, we would like to discuss something with you. Not right now, a little bit later. We will send you another letter regarding the location. We left this ribbon as a hint to where we are located so you may find us.

Love,
Mom and Dad

I look up at the headmistress. "So, I would like to discuss you parent's disappearance ten years ago, I believe," she said as her head rested on her folded hands. I close my eyes and nodes at her. "We, for some unknown reason, were not able to find them. I would like to ask you what this hint is for," she pulled out a deep blue colored ribbon. She set on the desk but I came up blank. I had frail designs on it and I fingered the bumps of the design. I looked up towards the headmistress.

"To be honest, I don't know what this means," I say, questioning this ribbon and why it was a hint.

"Surely, you know the reason for it..." She trailed off but I shook my head. She nodded as she signaled as if understood. I looked up at her, in hopefulness. Although, doubt weighed over her saying yes.

"May I keep the ribbon, as of now? I will return it and tell you if I have found anything," I asked as my voice cracked. I flinched at the sound.

"With all means. This is yours and is given to you," she says and I grab the ribbon, thanking her. "We are done here. You may resume to your classes," she smiled. I nodded as I got up and left the office. That was a terrifying experience.
