(Sky's POV)

"Wow, I haven't been out here in a few years." I said as we walked through a creepy forest about an hour away from the Sky Army base.

"I know what you mean Sky. This forest has changed a lot since we were kids." Ian said, walking beside me. He wasn't wrong. The many trees that used to blossom with leaves every spring were now dead. Fallen trees had scorch marks on them, and the grass was dead all around. It was pretty much a wasteland now.

"I just can't believe the squids did this to this place. I mean, what was the goal of setting fire to a forest?" Jason said, brushing his hand along a log with deep burn marks. His hand turned black with soot. He brushed in away on his pant leg.

"They did it to scare us. Well, to scare our parents. We wouldn't have known what was happening. We were too young." I said blankly.

"Hey, remember when we all first met? That was around here, wasn't it?" Jerome exclaimed excitedly.

"I think your right Jerome!" Jason said, perking up. I laughed.

"You're right! Me and Jason had decided to come into these woods to look for squids, and we had met you guys in one of these caves!" I said, looking around.

"I wonder...."

I ran a little ways ahead, to a large, deep cave in the ground. I slowly climbed down it, remembering the way down as if it were the back of my hand.

"Sky! What are you doing?" Jason yelled as I climbed deeper into the hole. I ignored his call and kept going down further, until I was at the floor of the cave. I grabbed a torch out of my bag and lit it. Holding up the torch, I scanned the wall. I walked a little further down the wall, and sure enough, our names were still carved into the stone.

"Hey guys! Remember this?!" I called up. The guys all came down the cave together.

"What is it Sky?" Jason asked. I pointed at the wall.

"No way! Our names are still here! Jerome look!" Mitch said happily, pointing to both their names.

"And mine is still here too! Wow, I remember this!" Ian gleefully cried.

"Hey look! I signed my name with Jeffery!" Jason said happily, tearing up a little.

"And Ty's is right next to mine." I said, sighing happily.

"Wow, all this time, they are still are here. Just like us." Jason said, still smiling.

"Do you think we carved anything else in here?" Jerome asked curiously. I shook my head.

"I don't think so. Remember when we stayed out too late and all our parents had to come bring us home? They didn't let us back here after that." Jerome said, laughing at the memory. I laughed, and sighed.

"Those were the simpler times. When we weren't the one protecting." I said. Everyone sighed.

"Yea, sometimes I wish that we weren't the ones born into protecting the army. We had such fun together. I'm still not sure if I was ready to give that up just yet." Mitch said, sitting himself on the ground. Everyone nodded in agreement. I looked out of the mouth of the cave and saw that the sun was setting.

"Well, we could stay in here for the night. It's getting dark out anyways. What do you guys say?" I said, trying to lift everyone's spirits. Everyone smiled and nodded.

"Just like the good old times." Mitch said, high-fiving Jerome.

"Alright. I think there is still enough time to go collect some wood before mobs come out. Jason, do you want to come help?" I asked. Jason nodded, and climbed out of the cave with me.
---------------

"Wow Sky, I still can't believe that our names were still there! Those had to have been written more then 10 years ago!" Jason said, bouncing around happily as he picked up sticks.

"I can't believe it either Jason. It was nice to get see a bit of my childhood again." I said, pulling a few twigs off the dead trees.

"Do you think we have enough?" Jason asked, and I nodded. Both of our arms were filled with logs and kindling for the fire. We bounded back inside the cave, where the guys were happily telling stories to one another.

"And so, Jerome and I fell out of the tree, and right into the lake! My mom was so mad at us for getting our clothes wet, She actually made us go to school with potato sacks on the next day to let our others ones dry in the sun!" Mitch said as he fell back laughing. Ian and Jerome were dying of laughter.

Me and Jason set up the fire and Ian lit it with his flint and steel. We fed it for a little while, and then pulled out our sleeping bags from our backpacks.

"Goodnight you guys." I yawned. Everyone muttered goodnight, and dozed off to sleep. As I laid in my sleeping bag, I had a gut feeling that Someone was watching me. I opened my eyes and looked around. My eyes grew wide as I looked farther down the cave, and saw a pair of brown eyes. I was about to yell out to the mysterious creature, but the eyes had already disappeared.
