(Sky's POV)
Our return back to the base was bittersweet. The recruits were elated to see Ty returned home, but de estates when they learned that Mitch and Jerome were gone.
As for Seto, even though we didn't come home with him, he ended up at our gates a few days after we returned, and we welcomed him back with open arms. His magic powers were now gone, due to him breaking his contract to Squillium. But he was still very trained in fighting, especially squid techniques.
Ty was treated for some infected cuts, malnutrition, fatigue, and PTSD. He still suffers a little from the torture he went through being a prisoner to the squids, but he's now stronger than he was. His old sense of humor returned, and he even started believing us when we said it wasn't his fault that Mitch and Jerome were gone. But that will haunt our memories for the rest of our lives. He told us all the horrible things done to him and how it felt to be Squidlox, but he also made sure to mention Seto's loving compassion for him in the chamber. Though they never admitted to it, I think a little bit of flirting was done at one point down there.
Jason and Ian went back to helping train the recruits and come up with new strategies.
Liz was never seen again. Although, when I went out on my night patrols, I could've swore I saw the shadow of a girl in a long trenchcoat standing on the border of the woods.
Team crafted will never be the same, but as does time, we still live on, by training our recruits, celebrating a victory against an enemy, and remembering our past. Every now and again me and the rest of the surviving team crafted go down to our old cave and rekindle old memories there.
The battle with Squidlox will definitely go down in our history books. It will be remembered as the day that I faced my greatest fear, and a day that I suffered my greatest loss. But that battle is nothing more than another battle, and I know that Mitch and Jerome wouldn't want me to dwell on it everyday. Things had to get done around the base. And as everyday passed, it faded just a little more into the distant part of my memory, and I know, that someday, this battle will one day wash out of the sea of my memory and others memories, completely.
A/N
Well. That's the end guys. 43 chapters.
Mitch: Citrus! What about me and Jerome? We never even got to say hi to everyone again!
Oh Mitch. Fine, I guess I can let you say hello one last time. Jerome? Where are you?
Jerome: I'm over here! By the looking pool!
Alright, on my command, go ahead and hop in. Ready?
*both nod excitedly*
Alright. 3....2.....1..... Jump in!
*both jump through the portal*
There will be one last chapter, and then I will have to switch the book from unfinished to completed. This is actually making me tear up a little.
Guys, the support you've given this book is amazing, and nothing I would ever expect. 34,000 reads on one book is a huge accomplishment for me, and I hope that I might be able to see that number grow. But, I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, so thank you guys so much for all the support I was given through this book, and I hope it can continue into future books :)
I love you all so much!
So, with all that mushy-gushy stuff out of the way...
Until the last chapter,
~Citrus
