(Sky's POV)

Liv led us back through the twisted forest to the intercity of her town. Me and Mitch were now familiar with the haunting buildings, but Jason and Ian, who were unfamiliar with this place, had their senses on high alert.

As we walked on the broken cement sidewalks, I wondered how a girl like Liv could've survived in a place like this. It obviously didn't seem safe. I also questioned why none of my recruits ever hadn't mentioned or maybe even known about this place. We could've helped them rebuild the city and make it safer and more pleasant for families.

"So, uh, Liv. I was wondering, is this how your town has always looked? At least, the intercity part of it?" I asked. Her body tensed, and I heard her take a sharp intake of breath.

Turning around, she stared at me with eyes full of sorrow, grief, and...hatred?

"My town didn't always look like this." She said shyly, and for once, I noticed that she didn't have the same confidence in her voice like usual. She looked at me, and then continued.

"When I just a little girl, this town was the most beautiful place on earth. There were beautiful white trees that grew on the medians in the streets, and their blossoms always attracted tourists every spring. The buildings always twinkled in light every night, casting a warm cozy feeling onto the cobble streets. Along with the city being beautiful, the town was quiet and peaceful. There was no such thing as 'Diami' or 'Direi' back then. Just, townspeople. We all got along peacefully, and shared everything with one another. But then one day, there were lots of dark storm clouds in the sky. It was a huge storm, with tons of down pouring rain and lightning." She said, tears forming in her eyes as she clearly remembered the day. "Squids came that day, attacking the town. They burnt down the trees and destroyed the city. They took people captive, but I managed to escape their tentacles. My mother and father were two of their captured, to be hauled away and have who knows what done to them." She spat, spitting that part of her story as if it were a reeking poison. "Those of us who were left felt unsafe after that. Many, including myself, turned to the lives of crime, looting already destroyed buildings. Those who still had money after the squids attacked became the group we know as the Diami. They look down on us because they know we can't earn money from a job because our education was never finished. They began calling us Direi, and now we have conflicted ever since. They think all Direi are just crooks or part of gangs, which is true for the most part. But I'm different from other Direi." She exclaimed, looking at Jason, and continuing her gaze to Mitch and Ian. "I wanted nothing more than to get revenge on those blue blooded trappers. I decided to become and Assassin, and I have pledged myself to killing as many of them off until I feel they have felt what I did when they destroyed my town." She said finally, with a small tone of relief and satisfaction. Ian, who stood there dumbfounded, glanced over at me. I returned his gaze equally.

"But...squids can't breathe on land. How did they manage to attack you on dry land?" Jason asked quietly.

"They attacked while it was storming. While the rain fell, they could attack all they wanted. As soon as the rain began to clear, they began to clear as well." Liv stated. Jason looked back over at me.

"Maybe that's how they were able to capture Ty! Maybe it was raining!" He said, giddy with the thought of becoming one step closer to finishing this mystery. I shook my head.

"We haven't had rain in months Jason. There's no way that could have been the way he was captured." Jason shrunk back a little.

"All right, we can figure that out later. We have to make it to that hangout before it closes." Liv said, motioned us to follow. We fell into steady rhythm with her, and she lead us to a nearby sewer drain in the middle of the street.

We all peered over the drilled on cap, wondering how we would get it off.

"How did you normally get this off Liv?" I asked, examining the lid.

"It's usually not tightened on here. Someone must've tightened it, and on purpose too. Someone doesn't want my one else down there with them." She exclaimed. "Anyone have a wrench or something?"

"Oh! My suit has a built in wrench!" Jason said suddenly, clicking a button on his suit that activated an arm attached with a wrench on the end. It lowered down to one of the large metal bolts and unscrewed it easily. It repeated itself with the other 5 bolts, and when the last one was undone, me, Ian, and Liv lifted it up and over to a nearby patch of grass. We set it down and walked back over to the drain, were Jason was now peering down into it.

"Eww. That place stinks!" Mitch said, pinching his nose.

"You get used to it quickly. Come on guys, you wanna save your friend right?" Liv said, before fearlessly jumping into the drain. I gawked at her as she motioned the rest of us to follow suit. I looked at Mitch and Jason, and then by closing my eyes, jumped into the mushy sewer.

I landed with a splat into the murky water. I quickly stood up, wiped my arms and hands onto my pant legs, trying to clear away any feeling of sewer muck on my fingers.

"Ok Mitch! Your turn!" Liv called, and a moment later Mitch landed perfectly on two feet. He smirked, and walked away. Ian then followed right behind Mitch, walking away to leave room for Jason to land.

"Alright Jason! Your the last one!" Liv called up. Jason shifted, but then took a leap of faith and landed on his butt in the muck.

"Ew, gross. I'm going to have to wash this when we get back." Jason muttered, standing up.

"Oh trust me, you aren't the only one." I said, walking up beside him. Liv led us down a series of sewer tunnels, until we finally stopped at a gated dead end.

"Are you sure you know where your going?! We're at a dead end!" Mitch growled, confused.

"Of course I do. Now, I must warn you boys. You aren't going to like this next bit." She said. She then took a deep breath, and then plunged into the water, to come up on the other side of the gate.

"Wait, so your telling me we have to swim in THIS MUCK!" Ian screeched, dumbfounded.

"I told you you weren't going to like it." She said in a matter-o-factly tone. "Now come on. The hangout is just up ahead."

"Uh, Adam? U wanna go first?" Jason offered. I gulped at the though of plunging my head into this water. But I knew that I had to do this for Ty. Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes and plunged under the water, kicking my legs, hoping and praying I was going to emerge on the other side. I was under for no more than 20 seconds when I swam up and was met with air. I coughed, and wiped the muck out of my eyes. Ian, Jason, and Mitch stared at me with wide eyes.

"Well, come on! Just don't think about it, and do it!" I encouraged. Then, one by one, they eventually made it under the gate.

"Finally! Now, come on!" Liv said excitedly, running her way through the slush. We followed behind her, and we all stopped at the sight of an iron door. We approached slowly, and I put my ear up next to it. Sure enough, I could hear the pains of music playing.

"How do we get it?" I whispered over to Liv, who shrugged. She then waded over, and casually knocked on the door.

"What are you doing!" I asked, covering my mouth to stifle a gasp.

"I'm getting us in." She said casually. I rolled my eyes, and stood there, my heart racing.

I heard all the music go silent, and slowly, the door opened. The room was dark, no noise to be heard. I led the way in, with everyone standing behind me. We all walked inside, and I heard the door close behind us. The lights flashed on, and I was met with what looked like a 50 pairs of squid eyes. The room reeked of squid, and all the squid were standing there, clearly in shock.

I smirked and waved.

"Hi."

Omg I changed this bit like 10 times im not even joking. So I really hope it's good XD
