*Fifteen years ago*
"But, daddy! I wanna go home!" Elizabella screamed as the moving men carried her boxes into the new house.
"Baby doll, this is home now. You'll just have to get used to it here. Make some new friends."
"I don't want new fwiends! I want my fwiends back in Denver!" Tears were pouring down her face now and she sat on the porch stairs, pouting. Her father sighed and started helping her mother carry boxes into the new house.
The neighbors from across the street made their way across their own lawn, over the road, and onto the sidewalk in front of Elizabella's new house. The father was tall with light brown hair and green eyes, while the mother was shorter with grey colored eyes. The mother held a freshly-baked apple pie with a smile on her pretty face.
Following closely behind the parents, were two identical girls with light brown hair like their father, and grey eyes like their mother. One of the girls looked way more confident than the other, who was clutching her ratty, old teddy bear closely to her chest. They were wearing the same outfit, but the only difference was the color. One was a pale pink and the other was a light blue.
"Well hi there, neighbors!" Said Elizabella's father, with a grey floor lamp in his hands.
"Hello! We just thought it might be nice to introduce ourselves and bring you a nice, homemade apple pie," the twins' mother said.
"Well how nice of you! Honey, come here!" The father said to his wife, who was just walking back out of the house. He wrapped his arm around her. "I'm Bill and this is my wife Lori," he said with a proud smile.
"Nice to meet you! We're so glad to have new neighbors. I'm Christine and this is my husband Peter. These are our daughters, Roslynn and Lilith. They just turned six."
"Oh how wonderful! Our daughter Elizabella just turned four!" Her mother exclaimed. "Why don't you girls go on and see if she wants to play? She's still upset about us moving."
Lilith, the little girl dressed in blue, grabbed her sister's hand and pulled her up to where Elizabella was crying on the stairs. "Hi! You Elizabella, right?" Elizabella looked at Lilith and nodded as she wiped away her tears. "I'm Lilith, but you can call me Lily! This here is my twin sissy. Her name is Roslynn, but she likes to be called Rose." Rose sheepishly his behind her sister and gave a small wave.
"Hi . . ." Elizabella whispered as she wiped away the rest of her tears. "Can you call me Izzy? I fink Elizabella is too long and it's a stupid name."
"Well I think it's pretty . . ." Rose said quietly. "Um, how old is you?"
Izzy held out four stubby fingers. "This many. My birfday was last monf."
"That's sooooooooo cool!" Lilith giggled.
"Hey, you wanna go play in my room? I gots lots of toys my daddy bought me."
"Yeah okay!" The twins exclaimed together.
The three girls ran upstairs into Izzy's green bedroom and played with dolls and dress up clothes and Izzy's brand new tea set. Before they knew it, it was time for Rose and Lily to go home to get ready for bed.
"Come on, girls. You can come back and play tomorrow."
"But I wanna stay here, mommy!" Rose screamed. She had finally come out of her little shell.
"I'm sure Elizabella has things to do in the morning, just like you do, sweetheart. You have ballet on Tuesdays, remember?"
"Her name is Izzy! And I don't wanna go to ballet! I wanna stay here all day!"
"Yeah!" Lily agreed.
Izzy got upend whispered in the girls' ears. "You can come over after ballet class. I has to go to the doctor wif my daddy anyways."
The twins sighed. "Okay. Bye bye, Izzy! See you tomorrow!"
The girls went home and waited until the next day. They all promised that they would all be best friends forever and even made necklaces to prove it. They didn't realize that only two of them would keep this promise . . .
