Chapter 19

*****Three months later*****

Akiza was walking through the halls of Duel Academy with a sigh. She missed talking with you. She saw Leo and Luna walking together. She calls out, "Leo, Luna!" Luna waved, "Hi Akiza. What's up?" She sighed, "I miss Y/N. It's so weird not seeing her around the hallway." The three of them stop when they see the turbo duelling arena open. Luna said, "I thought they closed it since Y/N isn't here." Akiza shrugs and replied, "Let's go check it out."

The chancellor had found out about your return to Duel Academy and opened the turbo duelling arena for you. The chancellor said, "Welcome back, Y/N." You smile, "Thank you chancellor, it's good to be back here at Duel Academy." You saw the duel runners and thought, "It's nice to be back here where I truly belong."

Later on, you didn't realize that someone was standing at the doors until you heard someone say, "Y/N? Am I dreaming or is it really you?" You turn around to see Leo, Luna and Akiza in shock. Luna looked content, "It is you!" She ran over to you, Leo following behind her. They both gave you a hug and you smile to yourself. Luna inquires, "When did you come back?" You were about to answer when you saw Miss Bartlett. She scolds Leo and Luna, "Get to class you two! You're going to be late! Come on!" They both groan and follow Miss Bartlett. Miss Bartlett then calls out, "Hello Y/N! Nice to see that you're back!" Oh Miss Bartlett. Akiza asked, "When did you come back here, Y/N?" You reply, "Actually, today is my first day back."

Meanwhile, back at the warehouse......

Jack stood outside the warehouse, alone. Jack's expression was one of sadness. He hadn't seen you in three full months. Jack couldn't forgive himself for what happened. He looked down at the ground and thought of the events that happened before. He thought to himself, "I should've protected her! Instead, I let those stupid things control me and they almost killed Y/N. I promised that I would protect her." "Jack?" Jack didn't look back but responded with, "What do you want, Yusei?" The onyx-haired boy let out a sigh, "Jack don't beat yourself up over this. It's not your fault that this happened." Jack replied, "No Yusei, it is my fault. I should've protected Y/N! I broke the promise that I made to her!" Yusei answers, "We all feel the same way, Jack. You're not the only one." Jack replies, "I'm a terrible boyfriend, Yusei! I couldn't be there for Y/N when she needed me most!" Yusei replies, "You know, she's out of the hospital now." Jack responds, "Who told you that?" Yusei said, "Luna did, she said that Y/N is back at Duel Academy." Jack sighed, "I'm not ready to face her yet, Yusei." Yusei responds, "You can't avoid her forever, Jack. She'll want to see you eventually." Jack sighed once more, "I know."

*****Later that day*****

You had just gotten back to the orphanage and you were absolutely exhausted. Martha comments, "You look tired, Y/N." You nod in response. I miss Jack. I haven't seen him in so long and it's killing me. Martha adds, "I'm pretty sure the doctor gave you strict orders to get bed rest." You said, "But Martha—" Martha shook her head, "No Y/N, no arguments. I want you march upstairs and rest, is that clear?" You mumble, "Yes, ma'am." 

Later on, you were resting in bed due to Martha's strict orders. Dark Magician Girl said, "At least you don't have to strain yourself too much. Martha's right Y/N, you should be resting and getting your energy back."  You reply, "I'm so bored though! I don't want to be in bed all day, Dark Magician Girl!" The female spirit sighed, "You won't be here all day, Y/N. Martha is just worried that you haven't fully recovered from that duel properly."  You sigh to yourself and look at your bedroom door. Crystal Seer noticed the lonely expression on your face and asked, "Y/N? Are you okay, honey?"  You sigh, "I'm fine Crystal. I just miss Jack, I haven't seen him in so long." Crystal Seer replies, "Don't be so down, sweets. I'm sure Jack will come and see you soon."  You sigh once more and look out your bedroom window. 

Jack let out a deep breath and Yusei noticed how tense he was. He asked, "Jack? Why do you look so pale?" Crow said, "Yeah Jack, you look like you're going to faint or something." Jack admits, "I'm nervous okay! I haven't seen Y/N since that final duel! I'm afraid that she'll hate me or that she'll break up with me!" Crow and Yusei gave him a "you're joking right?" look. Crow replied, "Jack, Y/N is crazy about you. Why would she break up with you? I'm sure that she would want to see you too." Jack said, "Maybe you're right for once, Crow." Crow protests, "What's that supposed to mean?!?" Yusei shakes his head, "Jack's back to his usual self." 

Dark Magician asked, "Milady, did you hear that?"  You mutter, "Mitch better not have messed with my runner again." You got out of bed and headed downstairs. You asked, "Martha what—" You froze when you saw the faint violet of a familiar turbo duelling suit. It can't be...I must be dreaming.  You asked, "Jack? Is it really you?" You saw Yusei and Crow standing behind him, waving to you. You ran to Jack, tears running down your faint cerise cheeks. Yusei looked at Crow and smiled. Jack held you and said, "God I missed you." Jack adds with a whisper, "Hello, my queen. I've been waiting for you." Jack cupped your cheeks in his hands and gave you a sweet yet passionate kiss. He wipes away your tears and kissed you once more. Jack said, "I love you, Y/N. I love you so much that it hurts. You're the other piece of my heart." Jack.  Jack held you in his arms and you heard Crow clear his throat. Crow was turning red, "As much I care about the both of you....WILL YOU GET A ROOM!!" Yusei said, "Crow calm down, they haven't seen each other in three entire months. They deserve a break." Crow exhaled, "Fine, but they'd better keep their lovey dovey stuff on the down low." 

*****An hour later***** 

Jack looked around and saw Martha. He asked, "Martha, have you seen Y/N?" Martha just pointed outside and Jack muttered, "Of course." He went outside and saw you sitting on the steps. Jack said, "Y/N, why are you sitting here all alone?" He sat beside you and placed his hand over top of your own. You answer, "I just missed you, Jack. I was scared that you would find someone else that's better than I am." Jack replied, "Y/N, you know that you're the only one that captured my heart. No other girl will ever have the same effect that you have." Jack hugged your side, "You my love, are stuck with me." The comment made you smile, "I don't have a problem with that, Jack. I'm okay with that." Jack kisses your forehead and adds, "I promise that no matter what, I'll protect you from any jerks that try to pull any tricks on you. I won't break my promise again." You object, "Jack—" Jack put a finger on your lips, "No Y/N, I want to be honest with you. I feel like I've been lying to you this entire time. I felt like such an idiot for not being able to protect you from those shadow spirits. I was scared that I was going to lose you forever. I couldn't bear to think of that. Please, promise me that you'll never leave me." You answer, "Jack, I.....I love you so much. I feel the same way about you. After you were possessed by them, I was afraid that you'd lose who you really were." You sniff, "I was scared that you'd turn into one of them forever." Jack put his hand on your cheek, "It's going to take more than a mind game to bring Jack Atlas down. I'm tougher than you think, love." Jack took your hand and said, "Come on, I want to take you somewhere." 

Jack dragged you toward Phoenix Whirlwind and tossed you the spare helmet. Jack remarks, "Hold on tight, love; This is going to be a fast one." You held on to Jack as he sped up his runner. You held on to Jack's waist and felt the wind caress your hair. Jack asked, "You alright back there?" You reply, "I'm fine, Jack. I love going on these trips with you." The blond smiled to himself in satisfaction. 

You look around, "Jack, this is the place you took me when you told me that you loved for the first time." Jack helped you off of Phoenix Whirlwind and replied, "I love it here, it reminds me of your pure heart." You felt your cheeks flush a hue of claret as Jack spoke. You felt Jack hug you from behind and heard him say, "This beautiful meadow is one full of sweet memories that belong to us. Memories that will never be erased from our minds or our hearts." His lilac eyes shined with joy as you both gazed at the picturesque azure skies. Jack held your hand, placing a kiss on it. He whispers, "You're the antidote to the poison that invaded my empty, blackened heart." You said, "Jack, you're so sweet." He puts your hand over his heart and adds, "You are the only one that has a place here. No one will ever tear us apart. Our hearts are bound as one." As the skies were painted a stunning shade of coral, your heart was filled with nothing but joy and love for a boy named Jack Atlas.
