-Mark's POV-

I awoke and saw Jess sleeping next to me, I slowly got up; careful not to wake her. I looked at the time, it was 10:30 at night. I walked downstairs and saw her parents sitting on the couch watching TV. Her mom looked up when she heard me come in the room. "Hi Mark." She greeted me with a smile. "Is everything alright?" she asked. I nodded. "Everything's fine." I told her. They must have sensed something was up because her father patted a spot on the couch for me to sit. "Come have a seat." he said. I slowly walked over and sat on the couch. "What's wrong, Mark?" her mom asked. "Oh, nothing is wrong...at least I hope there won't be." I said hesitantly. They both gave my questioning looks. I sighed and stated what was on my mind. "I wanted to know..." I said. My heart was pounding out of my chest. I took a deep breath and started over. "I wanted to know how you would feel of me asking Jessica to marry me." I said. They both instantly were surprised. "I know it seems too soon, but I'm telling you. She's the one. I can feel it." I blurted out. I looked at her dad. He looked concerned. "Sir, I just wanted to tell you, my intentions with your daughter are nothing but the best. She is the most beautiful person I have ever seen in my life. I live to make her happy, I would die for her. She is the sunshine everyday when I wake up. She's the stars in the sky every night. She is the first thing I think of when I open my eyes and the last thing I think of when I close my eyes to sleep. She lights up a room as soon as she walks in it, I can't picture myself with anyone else. I want to know...do I have your blessing to ask for your daughter's hand in marriage?" I asked him. Her dad was hesitant, almost at a loss for words. He didn't speak for a minute, then he moved over closer to me. He put a hand on my shoulder and then gave her mom a smile. "She's picked a good one." he said, then looked at me. He grinned. "Son, you most certainly have my blessing." I looked at her mom. She was smiling as well. She just nodded as I could see the tears welling up in her eyes. I stood up as well as her parents. We all hugged and I started walking back but then I turned around. "Hey, sir," I said. "What's up?" he asked. "Do you mind helping me pick out a ring? I wanted to ask her on Christmas." Her dad smiled and then nodded. "I'd be more than happy to help." he said. Then he gave me a thumbs up. I gave a thumbs up to both of them and then headed back upstairs. I saw my sleeping girlfriend in the bed, and I crawled back up next to her and smiled, if only she knew what we parents and I were just talking about. I wrapped my arm around her stomach and pulled her into my chest. She nuzzled her head onto her hands. Dear God, I loved her so much.

I woke before she did and quickly got ready. I wrote her a note, "Had to go grab somethings, be back later. Love you! <3 Markimoo." and left it on the pillow next to her. I blew her a kiss and then shut the door. I walked downstairs to find her dad ready and her mom making breakfast. "Morning Mark." her mom said. "Good Morning." I greeted. I looked at her dad. He nodded at me. "Ready?" he asked. I nodded and we headed out the front door.

As we drove down the street to the jewelers, it was so interesting to see how New York differed from LA, besides the weather of course. It was like a whole other universe. As we got into the town side where she grew up, it started to look more like LA. The street divided by a single pavement divider and shops and stores on either side of the streets.
We arrived at the jewelers and as we walked in, I was immediately overwhelmed. There was so many things on display. I didn't know what to look at first. Her dad found the rings and we started to look. "Can I help you with anything?" a voice asked. I looked up and saw a clerk. Her father slapped a hand onto my back. "This boy here is hoping to propose to my daughter." He said. I smiled awkwardly. "Uh...yeah." I said. The clerk smiled, "Well let me show you what we have. Do you know what kind of style she'd like?" she asked. "She's not really big into getting fancy. So something simple...something like-" my eyes immediately caught the attention of something perfect. "Something like that!" I exclaimed pointing down at a silver band holding a single diamond. "That's it, that's perfect." I said, grinning. The clerk unlocked the case and presented the ring to us. It was even more beautiful up close. The sun hit the diamond and it glistened, it reminded me of Jessica's eyes every time she got excited about something. "I'll take it." I told her. I looked up at her dad. He put a hand on my shoulder and gave me a cheeky smile. The clerk took the ring back and walked to the register. After she rung me up, she then put the ring in a box. I took the box with shaky hands. She was handing me the key to my future. "I wish you the best of luck." she said with a smile. "I smiled back, "T-T-Thanks." I stuttered.

We walked out and her dad looked at me. "Are you ready? Christmas is only 2 days away." he said. I nodded confidently. I was ready to ask the woman I fall in love with over and over every time I see her face to be mine for the rest of our lives.
